Stress: Treatment, Procedure, Cost and Side Effects

What is the treatment?

Stress, when defined commonly, refers to the feeling that a person may experience when they are overloaded (mostly emotionally and psychologically) and they are struggling to cope up with the demands of everyday life, whether personal or professional. Stress is actually a mechanism of the body by which it protects you. When a person perceives danger, the body’s defenses start working and they exhibit a rapid, automatic response known as the ‘ fight or flight response’ or the ‘stress response’. When a person feels threatened, the nervous system releases a number of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol and these prepare the body for an emergency response. The manifestations of this condition include increased heart beat, muscle tightening, high blood pressure, quicker breaths and sharpening of senses. These changes help a person to focus, speed his/her reaction time and also increases strength and stamina.

Stress can manifest itself in a number of different ways. The cognitive symptoms of stress include memory problems, anxiety, poor judgement, constant worrying and negative thoughts. The emotional symptoms may include depression, moodiness, anxiety, loneliness and isolation, a feeling of being overwhelmed and other mental problems. The physical symptoms include aches, pains, nausea, dizziness, loss of sex drive, rapid heartbeat and chest pain.

Some of the ways by which stress can be managed are being aware of how much stress a person is under, determine which factors are causing stress to increase in your life, taking charge and deal with the unhelpful sources of stress before they snowball into something unbearable and making prudent choices regarding your life so that he/she can deal with stress better. However, sometimes,a person may be prescribed sleep inducing pills or anxiety management medications if they are having too much difficulty in coping with stress.

How is the treatment done?

One of the most effective ways to deal with stress is to lead an active lifestyle. Doctors all over world advise people to incorporate some exercises in their routine so that they can better deal with stress. Regular exercise helps to elevate the mood and allows you escape from the cycle of negative thoughts that cause stress. Exercises like running, jogging, walking, swimming and cycling help you to deal with stress effectively. If a person is feeling agitated or insecure, there is no better way to relieve stress than to have a face-to-face conversation with another human being. A friendly conversation with another human being helps to calm and soothe the nervous system. A person without any close social relationships should make it a point to develop strong bonds.

Engaging any of your five senses namely- touch, sight, sound, smell and taste can help to effectively deal with stress. A person might get de-stressed by eating or someone might feel relaxed by listening to his/her favorite song. Similarly, relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation and deep breathing help a person to reach a state of restfulness that is complete opposite to the state of feeling stressed. Regular practice of these techniques will help a person to deal with the symptoms of stress more effectively.

Finally, a healthy diet can go a long way to help a person to deal with stress. Food eaten can help to improve or worsen a person’s mood and so, it is imperative to include foods rich in proteins, fresh vegetables and fruits in the diet. Stress can be dealt with a proper night’s sleep. However, people are often prescribed medicines to deal with anxiety and depression by a doctor.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

Any person can suffer from stress as it a normal bodily reaction to feelings of demand or threat. The treatment for stress normally does not include any medication but involves making substantial changes in the lifestyle of the concerned person. So a person is eligible for treatment of stress if he/she experiences the symptoms associated with stress. There can be different types of manifestations of the symptoms of stress. They are physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral. A person can undergo treatment if he/she experiences any of these symptoms.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

The treatment for stress generally involves making some behavioral and lifestyle changes in a person suffering from stress. This mode of treatment does not have any side-effects and nobody in general is ineligible for this treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Some of the side-effects of medicines to treat anxiety are low blood pressure, nausea, libido, depression, lack of coordination, emotional dysfunction, memory loss and decrease in IQ. A person suffering from stress may take anti-depressants to alleviate the symptoms. The side-effects of anti-depressants include headache, sexual dysfunction, diarrhea, dizziness and weight gain/loss. The behavioral therapy and lifestyle changes do not produce much side-effects.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

It is difficult to point out the post-treatment guidelines for stress as the condition requires constant monitoring and management. However, there are some guidelines that a person can follow to prevent stress after he/she has undertaken stress management procedure and taken medications. These are: reducing intake of alcohol, drugs and caffeine as these substances make the condition worse. A person should be a little organized and focus on what is important rather than losing their sleep over trivial issues. A person should put some time aside for himself/herself each day so that he/she can use that time to relax, organize and do whatever he/she wants to do.

How long does it take to recover?

Stress is a condition where a person’s body responds to perceptions of stress or danger. It is essentially an emotional and psychological condition that can be triggered by a number of ways. A person can use stress management techniques, self-help techniques and medication to keep stress at bay. But the recovery depends on the resolve of the patient and also on his ability to address the root of the problem. Hence, it is difficult to determine how long it will take to overcome stress.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

A doctor may charge anything between Rs 500 – Rs 1500 for a check-up. He will provide useful tips about how to keep stress at bay. Antidepressants may cost anything between Rs 26 – Rs 1650 in India and it depends on the composition and quantity of the medicine. A person can suffer from stress due to some mental condition. Treatment of stress, in this case, will require the treatment of the mental disorder. In such a scenario, a person will have to spend much more.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

Stress is an emotional and psychological response to some external trigger. There are different approaches by which stress can be managed. However, there is no permanent treatment for stress as a person may feel stressed due to a number of factors even after undergoing treatment. He will have to adhere to some strict guidelines and will have to make serious lifestyle changes to prevent stress. However, this is not always possible in today’s cut-throat world.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

Some research studies have shown that the effects of white passionflower are comparable to benzodiazepine drugs and, thus, can be used to treat stress. A good massage by a trained person can help to relieve stress almost immediately. Today’s generation are hooked onto their gadgets- whether it is mobile or laptop or tablet. Disconnecting from these gadgets can help to relax and ultimately prevent oneself from getting stressed. Aromatherapy can also bring immediate relief from stress by elevating mood, reducing anxiety and helping the person to focus and concentrate.

Safety: High Effectiveness: High Timeliness: Medium Relative Risk: Low Side Effects: Low Time For Recovery: Medium Price Range:

Biohack Yourself With Better Alternatives - Here Is How!

Were you looking for ways to biohack your physical, psychological and spiritual areas? Here is all that you were looking for.

Biohacking is not a rocket science but a do-it-yourself phenomenon which refers to bringing in lifestyle changes on your own. All your conscious actions that make your life healthy and happy.

In this article, the focus is to help you bring some changes in mental, physical and spiritual areas. Of course, you need not do all of them in one go. Take it slow and see what helps you and what modifications you need based on your preference. So let’s go one by one from one area to another:

Physical Area

  • Exercise: Begin your day with exercise. Now that we have a wide range such as aerobics, zumba, yoga, gym, pilates. You may choose the one that interests you the most because if you don’t like it, you procrastinate it all the time. So, go for trials, read, ask your friends, and figure out a way you would like to take it up. It doesn’t have to be at the beginning of your day but anytime you find yourself rocking on the chair for way too long, just stand up and move yourself a little bit. Movement not only keeps you away from feeling tired or lethargic but keeps your brain active.

  • Play frequently: Go back to reminiscing the good old times, when you would wait for Sundays to go to the park and play. How happy it would make you feel and made you spontaneous. Playing gives you a dopamine rush. And if in case if you were one of those indoor players, don’t worry, instead start looking for your board games or video games. It has amazing benefits such as increasing your concentration levels, enhances problem-solving, kills boredom, improves memory and stimulates the growth of cerebral cortex

  • Add colours to your meals: Adding colours to meals does not mean adding synthetic colours but a wide variety of veggies, fruits, cereals of different colours and varieties in your meals. Why add colours? The reason is simple, each colour has its own benefits for instance beetroot is rich in iron, similarly, eggplant is rich in potassium.

Moving on to the Psychological Area-

  1. Stress: Stress can become debilitating when it comes to the cognitive functioning of any individual. It disrupts your functioning, thus it is essential to control stress. You must have experienced high levels of stress at some point in your life. Prolonged states of high stress can sometimes lead to shutting down. Alongside, it has an adverse effect on the other areas as well such as a decrease in sleep, appetite, processing information, memory to name a few. However, if stress is too low, most often one tends to procrastinate, decreases productivity. Therefore, an optimal level of stress enhances your productivity.
  2. Stop replaying the past: One of the biggest mistakes that you keep doing is replaying the past. When you keep digging into the negative past events and replay it thousand of times, it wounds you. It is essential to pick on the hurts and stop digging deep into them because they will only harm and be of no good to you. Instead, let go of them and reminisce the events from past which gives you happiness and makes you feel better about who you are.
  3. Positive affirmations: No one will come and tell you that you are doing a good job, you have to take that initiative for yourself because being happy is a do-it-yourself project. And it depends on you how you do it. Make a list of all the good you have done in your day, feel good about yourself. It not only helps in reducing stress but also boosts your self-esteem.

Spiritual Area-

The spiritual area doesn’t necessarily mean being ritualistic or focussing on a particular religion. It can be anything that gives you strength, grounds you and makes you feel high on your energies.

  1. Meditate: You must be aware of the benefits of meditation on your brain functioning and your body. It helps in healing and aids in gaining emotional balance. It not only provides you the space to relax and rejuvenate but also helps to bring clarity in thoughts, improving communication skills. It is also a great way to gain inner stability. There are many ways you can choose from for meditating such as guided meditation, mindfulness, to name a few.
  2. Introspect: Everyday spend some time with yourself, you can also start by maintaining a journal. Introspection makes you build a close contact with your conscience which fosters better choices and decision making. Furthermore, helps in broadening your horizon and brings you closer to the centre within you.
  3. A pinch of gratefulness: The focus on gratefulness is increasing these days because you are forgetting to notice the good that is in and around you but constantly engaging in self-loathing. Just pause for a moment or two and engage in all the things that you have in the here and now. It is one way in which you can grow at a faster rate in all the areas, may it be physical, psychological or spiritual. It cultivates your core and does not take much but just a few minutes of your day.

You have the ability and can choose to transform yourself as many times as you want because you do deserve the best. So, go ahead biohack yourself with some alternatives, you have never tried before.

How Does Stress Affect The IVF Outcomes?

How Does Stress Affect The IVF Outcomes?

Issues with conception and long periods of trying to have a baby without much success do take a toll on couples. Apart from buying several fertility and pregnancy tests, the overbearing thought of infertility treatments and their expenses can also be quite stressful for a couple. While the concept of stress and how it affects each individual may be different, the one commonality is that it does affect every couple that undertakes this journey. There have been enough studies about stress affecting the results of an IVF and there seems to be some agreement that stress does not affect the outcome one way or the other.

  1. Overall well-being: Stress is definitely a problem for our overall well-being but there is little to worry when it comes to the success of your IVF cycle. Well, thanks to that there is one less thing to worry about. Since there are quite a few things you worry about once a cycle has been completed, the common thing you will hear from everyone around you is to de-stress. For one thing, the drugs that go with such treatments make everything so much more magnified and hence every small thought is magnified ten-fold while on the treatment.
  2. Stress in combination with other habits may be affect outcomes: While stress can delay a successful outcome, it will not completely stop you from getting pregnant. However, this stress coupled with several bad habits or problems can lead to issues which may not help in this journey. For instance, sleep can play a huge role in keeping you healthy and in the right condition to get pregnant. So, if you are having sleepless nights thanks to long and stressful meetings, it is time to rethink your schedule. Your lack of sleep may be combining with the stress to prevent a successful IVF cycle.
  3. Unhealthy Eating: Stress is a big trigger for unhealthy eating and most people do tend to binge eat when they are stressed. IVF and the medications associated with it can keep you on the edge as far as stress is concerned and it is very critical to eat healthy while you are attempting to get pregnant. Obesity and weight gain can be a serious impediment as far as successful trials are concerned. It is not only females but males can also be seriously affected by obesity. The sperm count can be drastically low in those that are overweight.

A healthy amount of exercise, a healthy diet that is rich in iron, minerals and fatty acids, a happy and positive attitude can go a long way in helping you in the process of getting pregnant.

Four Tips That Can Help Bring Down Stress During Pregnancy!

Pregnancy is a time of numerous changes in terms of one’s emotions and life. Most women happily welcome these changes but, they invariably bring in new sources of stress in their lives. Feeling stressed is quite common during pregnancy but, when your stress knows no bounds, it may become difficult to cope up. It can cause trouble while sleeping, you can lose your appetite and it can give you headaches.

High levels of stress for a continuous span of time can cause a host of health problems such as heart disease and high blood pressure. When you are pregnant, this form of stress can surge your chances of having a low birthweight baby or a premature baby. If you are too stressed during pregnancy, you should follow some stress reduction techniques that can go a long way in aiding you to manage stress. Some of the stress reduction tips are:

  1. Getting more sleep: You are already aware of the fact that getting more sleep can reduce your stress. This is because sleeping is a wonderful feat of the body that allows the brain to restore the neurotransmitters which become depleted when you are sleeping. When you are sleeping, the parasympathetic nervous system is also getting the desired rest that aids the body to deal with stress. Though sleeping becomes a tough ordeal, particularly in the third trimester, you can keep the temperature low, avoid eating anything for two hours before bedtime and use a body pillow for finding a comfortable position.
  2. Taking long baths: This is perhaps the best way to relax and when you are soaking yourself in lukewarm water, it will help in relaxing body aches as well. It will also curb down the anxiety when you are going into labour. Make sure that you don’t use essential oils that have not been approved by your doctor.
  3. Indulge in a physical workout: Exercise aids in the release of endorphins while improving circulation. When you are pregnant, exercise can take your mind off the stress and anxiety. Before starting, it is important to have a word with your doctor to determine the move that’s safe for you. The best workout is one that you can continue all through your pregnancy and come back to even after your baby is born.
  4. Having a soothing massage: You will have to find an experienced and certified therapist who can give you a warm and rejuvenating massage. Positioning plays a crucial role when you are pregnant and you will either have to lie sideways or rest in a specially made table for pregnant women. If you are not able to arrange for so many things, a shoulder rub from your spouse can also work wonders.

As can be seen, these measures are easy to adopt. So, with these tips, you will be able to manage any stress during pregnancy and deliver a healthy baby.

Role Of Family And Psychiatrist In Caring for Patients with Serious Mental Illness!

Mental illness or disorders are not uncommon, and they continue to affect millions of people around the globe irrespective of their ages and sex. Such disorders often require thorough and prolonged treatment, which is extremely challenging and involves a lot of risks as well. If not treated appropriately, it can lead to further worsening of the condition of the affected individual.

To keep affected individuals grounded and on course for an effective treatment, it is essential for their family members to support them. Many people employ psychiatrists, whose expertise in handling mentally unstable individuals, can be the difference between the success and failure of treatments.

Role Of Family In Caring Affected individual-
No matter how distant you feel from your family, it is your one true support system. People with mental conditions are often misunderstood by their own families. But such people need family care, love, and affection the most. Many mentally disturbed people, both young and old, experience worsening symptoms, because no one seems to understand, or even empathize with them. Families can help affected individuals by listening to them without  being biased - like taking care of their needs that they can't take care of on their own.

Benefits of Family Involvement
The benefits that the mentally ill individual gets from family involvement, have far-reaching positive consequences on the overall effectiveness of treatment. First and foremost, the chances of recovery are highly increased. The rates of hospitalization and chances of relapse decrease significantly. In addition to this, the adherence to the choices of treatment is readily enhanced. A lot of money is saved as well, as family support often leads to an improvement in conditions within a short space of time. Whereas, without family support, the treatment may be prolonged.

Support of the Psychiatrist
Apart from the complete support of the family members, the psychiatrist plays an important supporting role that can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment. Psychiatrist undergo the study of psychiatry, a branch of medicine that deals with diagnosis, study, prevention and treatment of disorders related to the mental health of human beings.

A psychiatrist conducts a detailed clinical assessment of the mentally ill individual and chalks out a treatment plan accordingly. The family can help as per the directions of the psychiatrist, and hence the support is quite vital. Psychiatrists regularly conduct counseling sessions to assess the condition of the affected individuals, so that they can recover soon.

Recovery may be difficult initially, but with support systems like families and psychiatrists, the problems are bound to be resolved eventually.

How Hormones Affect Your Health?

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Endocrinology, DNB Endocrinology, MNAMS, Speciality Certificate (Endo. & Diab.) (MRCP, UK), Fellow of American College of Endocrinology (FACE)
Endocrinologist, Delhi
How Hormones Affect Your Health?

Hormones are vital for the human body. They are basically chemicals released into the bloodstream and travel from one cell to another. They travel through the blood and assist organs in performing numerous functions of the human body. Hormones are responsible for a wide range of activities like growth, puberty, facial hair, stress, mood, reproduction, sleep, reproduction and many more. They are also found in other organisms like plants and animals.

Hormones are secreted by endocrine glands. The endocrine glands include pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands. The study of the endocrine system and hormones is known as endocrinology. Also, some major diseases are caused by hormone imbalance in the human body. The functions or activities of the body affected by hormone secretion are:

  • Growth and development
  • Metabolism
  • Mood
  • Sexual functions like menstruation, fertility, reproduction.
  • Blood Sugar level

Some vital hormones affecting human health:

  • Estrogen: Also known as the female hormone and responsible for a lot of functions and activities associated with a female body. They are secreted by ovaries and are primarily responsible for reproduction, menopause, puberty, moods and even sleep. High level of estrogen production is rare and mostly occurs because of oral contraceptives. Low level of estrogen is more common among girls and women alike. However, the most common disease experienced by females is PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Imbalance of hormones will mostly lead to hair loss, acne, depression and even osteoporosis. You can start by taking supplements like vitamin B complex and magnesium or sometimes even undergo hormonal treatment.
  • Testosterone: It is the male sex hormone. However, they are present in low quantities in females too. The testosterone is responsible for muscle growth and developmental functions. They also control puberty in males, facial hair, libido, erectile functions and formation of sperm. Imbalance can lead to depression, mood swings, insomnia, erectile dysfunction and also acne and hair loss. Excessive secretion of testosterone in females leads to increased hair growth and deepening of the voice. Moreover, regular drinking and smoking may lead to decrease production of testosterone among males.
  • Cortisol: It is one of the many hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. They are responsible for physical, stress regulation, maintenance of the immune system and inflammation, etc. High level of cortisol can lead to stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, fatigue, anxiety and depression. Low level of cortisol may lead to chronic fatigue syndrome and even alcoholism.
  • Insulin: It is one of the most important hormones in the human body and is produced by the pancreas. Insulin is responsible for breaking down carbohydrates in the body and maintaining blood sugar level. Its job is to use the sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates and convert it into energy. An imbalance of insulin leads to high blood sugar level (hyperglycemia) or low blood sugar level (hypoglycemia). Such imbalances can lead to diabetes in humans which vary depending on the blood sugar level of the body.
  • Growth Hormones: They are secreted by the pituitary glands of the body. The hormones are responsible for growth and development in children and teenagers. They are also responsible for proper functioning of the heart, muscle development, metabolism and many more. Imbalances can lead to stunted growth in children. Consult your doctor for ways to boost growth in your child.

Hormones play a major role in the human body. Their deficiency or imbalance can create serious health issues and disease for humans. So the next time you have difficulty in losing weight or suffering from depression, your hormones are equally responsible along with your genes.

I'm having lack of interest in daily activities, fatigue, headache, insomnia, fear, anxiety, stress are this the symptoms of depression so what should I do to overcome this symptoms.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Yes, these could be symptoms of depression but I think it is an anger related kind. Usually depression is accompanied by anxiety and fear. If this bothers you too much you must seek professional help from a doctor and a counselor in tandem. In the meantime you can use some of these tips: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Memory and mind power depends on three aspects. Understanding, retention and recollection. Recollection is easy if your retention is proper and flawless. Retention is possible when you are able understand what you read or learn. To understand you should have concentration. Concentration comes from effective learning techniques based on creative and active learning. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, socializing coupled with systematic learning improves your memory and mind power. Vegetables, fruits and nuts are perfect for memory. Brain games like sudoku and jigsaw puzzles helps too. Avocados, Beetroots, Blueberries, Broccoli. Celery, Coconut Oil, Dark Chocolate etc are good for improving concentration and memory. I suggest online education counselling. Take care.

Struggling with Stress?
Impact of Stress on our health

Mera naam Dr. B S Arora hai. Mai peshe se ek manochikitsak hoon. Kya aap apni Zindagi Tanav Mukt Jeena Chahte Hain? Kya aap Chahte Hain ki aap ke Jeevan Mein Koi Tanav Na Ho? Agar aap ka Uttar haan me Hai To Mujhe Gaur Se suniye. Aaj Mai aap se Tanav aur Tanav se Mukti ke upaay ke baare mein sankshipt vartalap karunga. Pehle tanav Kya Hota Hai? Tanav ke kya Karan Hote Hain? Tanav Mujhe Kaise prabhavit karta hai aur Tanav ki avastha kya hoti hai? Aur fir mai aap ko bataunga Tanav Mukti ke upay. Pehla toh tanav Kahin Bhi, Kisi Ko Bhi, Kabhi Bhi Prabhavit kar sakta hai. Tanav Zindagi Ki Ek Sacchai hai. Tanav ka Sahi Prabhadhan hi ek upaay hai.

Pehla tanav Hota kya hai? Ek avastha Hai jis mein kisi kaaran se mera Shaareerik, Mera maansik Mera Bhavnatmak santolan Bigad jaata hai. Yeh Karan antrik bhi ho sakte hain aur Bahri bhi ho sakte hain. Ye vastavik bhi ho sakte hai ya Kalpanik bhi ho sakte hain. Tanav ko do bhago Me Baanta Gaya Hai 1 positive or negative. Jaise aap apni Pariksha ke liye taiyari karte hai, agar tanav na ho to aap apni Pariksha ki taiyari nahi kar Payenge. Isliye Hum usko kehte hain positive tanav, Ek positive tension. Ab humein dekhna chahiye ki tanav ki avastha kya kya hai. Tanav ki teen avastha hoti hai. Jaise ki hum Apne Jeevan Kaal Ke Andar 3 Kaal Se Guzarte Hain - balyavastha, Yuva avastha aur vridhavastha.

Tanav ki bhi theek 3 Avasthaayein hoti hai. Pehli stage Hoti Hai alarming stage, 2nd Stage hoti hai stage of resistance and Third stage hoti hai stage of exhaustion. Jab Ek vaigyanik addhyyan kia gaya Pata Laga ki Hamare Tanav Ke Karan alag alag ho sakte hain lekin Hum usko Jis Tarah se pratikriya karte hai uska 1 definite pattern hai Jisko Hum Log Kehte Hai generalized adaptation system. Ye ek jatil prakriya hai. Mainw uska Ek thoda sa sarili Karan aap logo ke liye Kiya Hai. Ab Hum Chalte Hain Tanav ke kya kya Karan ho sakte hain. Pehla Karan Ghar Mein Kisi ki mrityu ho jana. Kisika ghar mein janam lena. Kisi Ko Kisi ke ghar mein Achanak aapka financial status ya Naukri ka chhoot Jaana. Ya phir ek samay nirdharit k andar aapka Karya ko karna.

Tanav ke aur bhi Karan ho sakte hain jaise aapka traffic me fas Jana, Pariksha ka nazdeek Aa Jana aur ek pariwarik Kalah jisske anar Divorce Bhi Ek pramukh Tanav ka Karan Hota Hai. Ab Hum Chalte Hain Tanav ke baare mein Humne Charcha kar li. Tanav ke Karan, tanav ki avasthayein. Ab baat karenge tanav Hame Kaise prabhavit karta hai. Hum Shareerik taur pe baat kare to Tanav Hame Rakta Chap yani hypertension, BP Ka mareez Bana sakta hai. Humko Heart Attack De sakta hai. Lifestyle Changes to Manage Stress
Hello everybody. I am Dr Ashish Kumar mittaal. I am MD psychiatrist and I am practising in Gurgaon

Today we are here to know the management of stress and anxiety and its treatment.

The first question is what is stress?

Stress is that how our body and mind reacts to the life situations. So it may be Eustress or Distress.

Sometimes it helps us to move forward in our life. For example, during exams, we develop stress but due to that stress, our attention, concentration increases and we are able to finish things fast, we can learn fast and we can perform well. So this kind of positive stress is called Eustress.

But when the stress level increases, suppose, you have a capability of 10 and you have given work of 13 magnitudes, then your performance will go down and you will not be able to work or concentrate properly. So, this excessive stress is called Distress.

We can do something with our lifestyle to help reduce stress.

Switch off television and the internet at least one hour before sleep so that your mind is at rest before sleep.
Don t use excessive caffeine. Caffeine is there in tea, coffee, cold drinks and chocolates.
Do not take more than two cup of tea. If you are taking more cups of tea there will be more anxiety, lack of sleep which will further increase your anxiety.
In student we see such a thing. In exam they remain awake, take excessive caffeine in the form of tea and coffee develop excessive anxiety which reduces their concentration and disturb their sleep. So we need to watch it over.
We need to take some exercises like cardiac exercises in reducing stress and anxiety, some yoga technique we can follow.
Fix your meal timings and engage in some sports activities.
Many people think ayurvedic and homoeopathic treatment bring a cure. So I am not denying their role in managing these things but if you are not getting benefit then switch to allopathic treatment. There is no harm in that and it brings great relief within one or two months. We have many patients who have improved like anything.
The third barrier in the treatment is stigma. People think if we are going to the psychiatrist for treatment we are mad. Actually you are not. The person who develops stress and anxiety problems actually are smarter than other person and that is why they have developed anxiety problem, that is why they are worrying and anticipating more. Whenever you will go to the treatment you will see with good doctors huge number of persons are coming for treatment. So you can rely you are not alone. Others too are seeking treatment. But what happens is nobody tells each other that we are seeking treatment. Don t worry about stigma. Worry about your health and seek the treatment. Treatment is easily available. If you will search you will get good doctors nearby.

If you want to consult me you can consult me through lybrate.

I have deal with so many problems like depression, anxiety, stress, even food addiction, addiction of alcohol, cigarettes, or any kind of addiction which is coming to your mind that we are covering. We are also dealing with the stress related to eating habits like mostly the people are having emotional eating these days and they are not aware of why they are gaining weight. They are gaining weight because of their emotional eating.

I will just give you an example like people do take care of, when they are stressed out, they tend to eat more. Why they tend to eat more because when they are stressed out they burn more energy that s why they need more energy. When they need more energy then, for that they need to eat more food and the rich sources of energy is carbohydrate, or things which is like sugar, or carbohydrate or things which is made up of maida. So, mostly people tend to eat more those kind of foods. When people tend to eat those kinds of foods, they feel guilt also.

After eating so much of junk food, they feel guilt and that guilt leads to stress and that stress again make the person eat, so this is the basic cycle which is going through. So, we are dealing with emotional eating, food addiction, alcohol addictions, stress, anxiety, depression, even any kind of stress or as we know in our lives, there are so many ups and downs because of many reasons, related to health, related to personal problems, personal life, even, family lives.
