How bad is the disc and how long have you been in pain. Were you advised surgery. If the disc was not significant, most patients get better with physiotherapy in a few months, and as such may be able to do pull ups. If you are still symptomatic, you probably should see your orthopedist, perhaps do a repeat mri and assess the risk.
