Sensitivity of the teeth can occur due to various reasons. Using desensitising paste on a regular basis can't always solve this problem. Use desensitising paste twice daily with your finger and leave it for 10 mints and wash it off. U may need some oral prophylaxis. Visit your dentist for further clinical evaluation. For personal consultation use doctor code ascb34. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user,
I would suggest you to stop chewing on pan masala as you must be well aware of the other ill effects of pan masala like the precancer like lesion in mouth. As far as sensitivity to the cold is there you can take any otc antisensitivity paste but if it is to hot also, then you will need a consultation with your dentist.
Take care.

Yes scaling helps. When there are deposits on teeth, due to them gum recedes leading to exposed root surface in mouth on which you feel sensitivity. More the deposits more sensitivity you will feel after scaling, but that is going to be temporary. After scaling you need to follow instructions thoroughly, if you don't, problem can recur. Just because sensitivity might increase for a week doesn't mean that you will not get your scaling done. If you don't get scaling done then deposits will continu...more

If there is no relief from sensitivity even after using sensodyne toothpaste then its better to consult a dentist as there are number of causes due to which sensitivity occurs. Cavities in tooth or teeth also can cause sensitivity which can be treated by only filling the tooth or teeth. Depending upon anti-sensitivity pastes can only increase the depth of the cavities if present and may lead to more problems like tooth pain, pus discharge for which rct may only be the solution left. So be safe t...more

Lybrate-user, I advise you to change your dentist. Getting rct and filling is ok but as you say 10 crowns - well were they rct treated. It seems like lack of treatment planning. You can consult me if you wish.

Kindly forward x ray (opg,) if possible for best treatment. Desensitizing treatment by a dentist will help reduce sensitivity. Thremoseal ra tooth paste for senitivity, apply paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .then brush your teeth with the same paste. Massage with sensoform gum paint to improve strength of the gums.
