Tegrital plain you can take but you have to take two times at half the dose you r taking currently. Cr is a long acting medicine where as plain tegrital is a short acting one. Better you consult your regular gp before changing the medicine as it may lead to fluctuations in levels in blood.

Hello Lybrate user
if you know your seizure without losing conscious is called as simple seizures. During a seizure attack, heart beat increases. First we need to confirm the type of seizure, if it is confirmed then we need to use an appropriate drug and dose to stop the recurrence of seizures. Pls consult a physician and take appropriate treatment. Take care.

Usually anti-seizure medication are prescribed for 3-5 yrs, but it varies from patient to patient. If no further seizure occurs within this period and depending on your situation, they can be discontinued.

I started having seizure from august 2019 and since that I have had 10 seizures but for the past 5 months I have been using carbamazepine and I use that every morning but recently I used it in the morning and later at night, I had seizure while I was sleeping and my bp went high. And after 3-4 hrs it came back to normal. Now the doctor I met prescribed azitop 500 mg and he is treating me of cerebral malaria and brain infection, just in case I have an infection in the brain, I have been told to do the ct scan but I have been unable to because of the location and its hard driving to the city. And ever since I started taking the azitop 500 mg together with the carbamazepine at night before bed. I find it hard falling asleep, and I have headache. And I also feel like my brain is working so fast. Please I need advice on what to do. I am tired of having a seizure. I am worried because I was told I will be on the antibiotic drug for a while but he never told me how long. And I don't think its a good idea. Please what can I do.

What is cause of your seizure need to determined first. Otherwise proper seizure control. Is not possible. It seems that you are having a long standing seizure disorder. Further proper choice of anti-seizure medication depends on the type of seizure you had. Anti-biotics are not effective for seizure control, as of today there is no evidence of using azitop for prolonged duration in any kind of seizure. I think you should stop it.

Tegrital is used for epilepsy. It should be taken on daily basis. Irregular use can give rise to seizures or fits.

Why non epileptic? I think she has been suffering from epileptic seizures. Normal mri does not exclude epilepsy. Probably she had her eeg done. Is it normal? Even then also epilepsy is the possibility. Anyway, she should consult a neurologist. Another thing, sleeplessness might provoke epileptic attacks. She should avoid late nights. Hope for her early recovery.

Nocturnal epilepsy is a seizure disorder in which seizures occur only while sleeping. It can be treated with homeopathy which helps treat acute fits as well as eliminates the tendency to have seizures. You may need to discuss it further over a call for a better and effective medical consultation.
Thanks.
