Asked for male, 26 years old from Allahabad

I've had upper 2nd molar extraction last year. It was broken in 2017 but few pieces remained. I've got cbct scanning and according to report my bone length is only 7 mm not sufficient fr dental implant. Cyst benign tumors is also seen in scanning and adjacent teeth has caries that was filled by a dentist. I'm 5.3 and weight is just 43 kg (loss 4 kg in lockdown). I have vitamin d deficiency (6.05) and low vitamin b3, b9, k. I do also have indigestion problems and hookworm infection was detected in stool in 2015. A week ago I had impacted wisdom teeth extraction and during procedure I experience syncope attack. Doc has talked to me and advised not to go for implant as i'm not healthy and have vitamins deficiency, you'll need 4 mm bone grafting and as you're not healthy complications can come you got to suffer then. I don't wanna have dental bridges as it may damage adjacent teeth.

Hi Shubham, you can go ahead with implant but take vitamin B and D supplements for 2 months before starting off with the procedure. There are short implant options also but your bone density need to improve before placing implant.

Please advice about the side skin coming while chewing aside of the wisdom tooth. What should I do. And also let me know how much time it will need to get normal. I have read somewhere that it almost takes around 3-4 months to get normal. Specially when it erupts in my age.

Hi lybrate-user if the wisdom tooth of yours is creating this problem you should soon visit a dentist and get a checkup. If the problem resides the dentist may have to remove it if the condition get severe.

You should meet an orthodontist who will guide your teeth out of your bone and give a natural smile. Braces are best option which will help orthodontist to guide the tooth but is it feasible or not will be decided with the help of x ray scan reports.

Health Query

Hello sir. There is swelling around a empty socket in right upper jaw. Only root of molar is left (because of rct which was done around 6-7 years ago) that is why I said empty socket. I consulted a dentist in my town and he gave me some antibiotics for 5 days then after eating these medicines the swelling got reduced and vanished. After completing 5 days medicines I visited his clinic and he said that if the swelling comes again then we have to extract that root which is a little bit difficult. This swelling is very random .in a single day at morning there is no swelling and at evening there is swelling. And sometimes there is pain in my right ear. So what should I do?

Dear Lybrate user, the swelling in area and pain in ear may be sign of infection in those remaining pieces of broken tooth. As your doctor says it is better to extract that remaining tooth peices. Or else pain and swelling will keep coming back.

You have 2 choices.
1. Go fo removal of this tooth when you have time to take some rest
or 2. When pain occurs in the tooth.
Decide accordingly.

The main reason of impaction is loss of space in the jaws or deficient growth of jaw bones due to any reason. Time for eruption for all teeth except wisdom teeth is till 13 years.
