Pimples basically occur due to building up of bacteria and oil overproduction. Mostly they affect the part of the skin which has a large number of functional oil glands that are neck, back, face, chest, shoulders, etc.

They are red tender bumps which are accompanied by white pus on the tip.

Pimples are very common and anyone can get affected by them. Basically, they do not occur because of any disease. When the hair follicles opening gets blocked with dead skin cells and oil and if that pore gets infected with bacteria then it forms pimples. They can also occur because of changing hormones during puberty or may occur due to tight clothes that rub against the skin.

Pimples severity depends from blackheads to cyst and it varies in size. It may cause pain that makes us uncomfortable.

There's no confirmation about any specific food which causes pimples or acne but if we follow a good and healthy diet, it reduces the risk of pimples.

There are many ways by which we can remove pimples from our face, which are as follows -

  • Icing -

In order to soothe the pimple and the area around it, wrap a few pieces of ice in a cloth and apply it repeatedly on the affected area. It will provide a little relief. Icing is to be repeated 3-4 times in a day.

  • Acne face mask -

Face masks are a new trend today. Just put on a face mask and lay down for 15-20 minutes.  After that gently massage your face to soak the remaining serum in your face. Special masks are available for acne prone skin. These really help in reducing the pimples.

  • Hydrate yourself -

If you have pimples start drinking plenty of water. Drinking water is always recommended for healthy and glowing skin.

  • Keep your diet healthy -

Avoid eating oily and spicy food. Eat fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and juices. Maintaining healthy food habits will bring in extra glow.

  • Over the counter medication -

You can take over the counter medicine or some acne removal or anti fungal/ anti bacterial cream from your nearby chemist and apply it directly on the pimple. You may do a patch test to check any kind of irritation. Note that it doesn't suit everyone owing to different skin types. Check before you use it.

  • Use oil free sunscreen -

Sunscreen is a must. Always choose an appropriate sunscreen depending upon your skin type. It's actually a big issue for oily skin type people because their glands produce too much sebum. People with oily skin can opt for gel based sunscreens.

  • Don't Pop -

Often most of us develop an urge to pop the pimple. Kindly don't do this. If you pop an acne/ pimple, whiteheads or blackheads you actually end up having more of them. It leads to developing infection around the area.

  • De Stress -

Stress is also one among the reasons for growing or developing pimples/ acne on the skin. To have a clear, glowing and bright face practice yoga and meditation daily.

  • Exercise -

Exercise increases the rate of metabolism and the flow of blood. The sweat released while you exercise removes the toxins from the body giving you a glowing effect.

  • Maintain hair cleanliness-

Pimples also result from untidy hairs touching your face all the time. Keep your hair clean and tied. Don't let them fall on your face.

  • Avoid heavy makeup -

Regular use of cosmetic products lead to developing pimples and pigmentation on the skin. Avoid heavy party makeup and if only you have to do it, remove it once you are back at home. Do remember to follow the proper makeup removal tips.

  • Cleanse -

Keep your face clean. Wash your face at least two times a day with a mild soap or a face wash. And also, wash your face simply with water   once or twice whenever you feel like. To mention, you should never forget to wash your face as soon as you get up in the morning and before you go to sleep at night.

  • Moisturize -

Use a good quality moisturizer after cleaning your face. Don't forget to apply a moisturizer every time you wash your face.

  • Don't rub -

Don't rub your face especially when you have pimple issues.

Dry the orange peels and make a smooth powder. Keep it ready in the refrigerator. Make a paste and apply it daily on the affected area until it vanishes.

Apply coconut oil on the affected area and leave it overnight. The antioxidant properties of the coconut oil helps to remove pimples and develop healthy skin cells.

  • Besan -

Besan is the best home remedy for all skin issues. It works as a natural cleanser. Its alkaline properties are helpful to maintain pH balance of the skin. Also you can make a smooth paste by mixing rose water with besan. Apply this paste for about 15 minutes and then rinse your face thoroughly. You will feel your skin getting smooth.

  • Tea tree oil -

One of the best remedies for removing pimples. Take a few drops of tea tree oil and apply it directly on the affected area. Also, you can mix it with carrier oil and leave it overnight for better results.

  • Visit a dermatologist -

If the problem still persists even after trying these remedies, visit a dermatologist without a second thought. He may prescribe some retinoids or antibiotics to prevent the further growth of acne. Also he may suggest some medicines for hormonal issues which can be a probable reason for the breakout.

  • Laser Therapy -

In laser therapy, the dead skin cells and bacteria are targeted with the source of light. It kills bacteria and destroys the dead skin cells which are the reason behind the development of pimples.

Following these tips will definitely help you to get rid of those irritating pimples. All the best.
