To do a self-test for diastasis recti, lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your fingertips across your midline and parallel to your waist at you navel. Place your other hand behind your head and lift your head up while gently pressing your fingertips down.

Steroids are not the solution for your pain and short-term popping in of steroids will not give you any pain relief,
you have to be on alternative form of treatment like physio, local modalities, mild pain killers etc ,after a detailed evaluation of your cervical spine mri and if needed immobilisation with collar. night time saturation records with pulse oximeter and bilevel positive airway pressure (bipap) may be indicated for the patients.
Physical therapy measures (chest percussion, breathing exercises, resistive inspiratory training) may be required to clear respiratory secretions to reduce the work of breathing.
