Hi lybrate-user, That is a very good question. Possibly one of the reasons it is not popular is because it is to be taken twice weekly and not daily and there is a chance patients may forget to take one or more doses. Secondly, it may lead to amenorrhoea or stoppage of menstrual cycles temporarily and patients are not comfortable with that, Not knowing if it is due to a pregnancy or due to the tablets. Hope I have clarified your doubts.

The contraceptive pills will not make you sterile but it has many other side effects if used for more than 3 years at a time . Instead you can try other methods like using copper T and using non steroid drugs like Ormeloxifene, also known as centchroman, is one of the selective estrogen receptor modulators, or SERMs, a class of medication which acts on the estrogen receptor. It is best known as a nonsteroidal oral contraceptive which is taken once per week.

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you.
If you use withdrawal for birth control, it's a good idea to keep emergency contraception (aka the morning-after pill) around, just in case semen (cum) gets in or near your vagina.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Take 2 white pills within 120 hours after unprotected sex and 2 more white pills 12 hours later. Each dose contains 0.5 mg of levonorgestrel and 100 µg of ethinyl estradiol. Emergency contraception works up to 5 days after unprotected sex. The sooner you take it, the better it will work. Take these pills 12 hours after taking the first set of pills. If you want to use birth control pills for emergency contraception, you must take 2 doses 12 hours apart.
