Treatment Of Bronchial Asthma!

In this article, we will explain importance of miasmatc study in treating bronchial asthma

Why best homeopathic treatment for allergic asthma fails?

Importance of miasmatc study in treating bronchial asthma. Treating cases of allergic asthma without understanding miasmatic condition is difficult for a number of homoeopaths. Curing allergic asthma require persistence, uphill struggle, and passion to recognize and take care of such patients. As per Dr. Abhishek, physician must have a comprehensive understanding of miasmatic conditions of the asthmatic patient in conjunction with the maintaining and exciting causes. Maintaining and exciting causes help us to select similimum, and comprehensive understanding of miasmatic conditions helps in elimination of the main obstruction to the cure of asthma, correct potency selection, medicine doses and repitition, disease prognosis, and assessment of homeopathic medicine effect.

Few important guidelines to recognize the miasm.

Bronchial asthma homeopathy treatment

Lectures on homoeopathy materia medica indicate the shortcoming of prescribing homeopathic medicine effortlessly on the basis of symptoms totality without understanding miasmatic back ground.

" asthma, when it is hereditary, is one of the sycotic diseases of hahnemann. For years I was puzzled with the management of asthma. When a person came to me and asked" doctor can you cure asthma" I would say" no" but now I am quite liberal on asthma, since I have learned that asthma is a sycotic disease, and since I am able to treat or cure large number of asthamatic patients after I have made well judged appliance of anti-sycotics homeopathic medicine. That is one of the first things I observed, that outside of sycotics you will seldom find a cure for asthma.

We further talk about shortcoming of prescribing homeopathic medicine effortlessly on the basis of symptoms totality without understanding miasmatic back ground.

" while ipecac, spongia, and arsenicum will correspond just as clearly to the supervening symptoms and to everything that you can find about the case, yet what do they do? they palliate; they repress the symptoms; but your asthma is no better off, your patient is not cured"

From above speech marks it is obvious that Dr. Kent strictly follow Dr. Hahnemann's experience and work inaccordance to the hypothesis of anti-miasmic remedy. Dr. Kent further he also evidently express that using the totality of symptoms without understanding deep consept of miasms can lead to sheer suppression or palliation of the disease.

Doctor give emphasis on the better understanding of fundamental cause along with totality of symptoms, in aphorism no-5 of bible of homeopathy-organon.

" useful to the physician in assisting him to cure are the particulars of the most probable exciting cause of the acute disease as well as the most significant finding during casetaking (chronic disease history), to helps physician to find its fundamental cause, i. E chronic miasm. In these investigation, the corporal constitution of the patient, his ethical and logical character, his profession, mode of livelihood and lifestyle, his social and domestic relations, his age, sexual function, etc, are to be taken into consideration.

Therefore it is utterly essential for a homoeopathic doctor to identify the exciting factor of allergic asthma, the allergic trigger and primary fundamental cause of allergic asthma. Hence finding the chronic miasms is very important. An acquired allergic asthma as a rule is psoric in origin and genetic asthma is sycotic in origin. The acute worsening of the chronic state of asthna are hidden within the constitution and occur due to exciting factors.

Few important tips for alergic asthma patient:-

Asthma— lifestyle and diet

1. Eat well balanced diet, take freshly prepared, light, nourishing foods.

2. Do not overload your stomach.

3. Avoid long intervals between meals

4. Do not drink milk at night

6. Take dinner two hour prior going to sleep

7. Avoid the allergen you are allergic to

8. Avoid sudden temperature changes

9. Quit smoking and avoid smokers

10. Avoid keeping pets in the house

11. Regular light cardio exercise like yoga, brisk walk or jogging. Avoid heavy exercise as that can precipitate asthma attack

12. Do breathing exercises so as to improve lung capacity. Eg yoga -pranayam exercise.

13. Do stress relieving meditation exercises or yoga to reduce the psychological factors related to asthma

  • Congenital cause: Abnormal intrauterine posture may result in compression forces acting on the nose & upper root.

  • Trauma.

  • Cause secondary to trauma, polyp in nose.

Pathology:

1) Deviation are smooth: Deflection which are upper, lower, anterior or posterior septum ( Isolated thickening on septum).

2) Spur: Occur at junction of base & cartilage may predispose to epistaxis from the vessel on their surface.

3) Thickening may result from trauma due to overriding of the cartilaginous fragments.

4) Dislocation: Displacement of the lower edge of the cartilage from the maxillary crust & the vom due to trauma.

The deviation may be 'C' shape, 'S' shape.

Symptoms:

  • Blocking of nose.

  • Sinusital headache secondary to obstruction to drainage of sinuses.

  • Vacuum headache causes by vacuum created in Para nasal sinus due to obstruction in the drainage of the sinus resulting in absorption of the air by the mucosa of the sinus.

  • Recurrent rhinitis i.e. nose.

  • Epistaxis: Little area the deviated side of the septum is exposed to atmospheric directly predisposing to drying and crusting of mucosa and tendency to pick the nose.

  • Anosmia due to DNS, perforation of nose

Signs:

  • Deformity of external nose.

  • DNS

  • Secondary hypertrophy of turbinate.

Complications:

  • Recurrent sinusitis due to obstruction to drainage of sinus.

  • Middle ear infection due to forcible blockening  of nose or recurrent upper respiratory infection.

  • Mouth breathing causing infection of pharynx, larynx, trachebronchial tree.

Allergic Issues Of The Nose You Shouldn't Ignore!

Allergic Issues Of The Nose You Shouldn't Ignore!

Nasal allergies are very common, and as a result, not taken seriously by most people. In most cases you patiently withstand the coughing and sneezing which might last for an entire day and in the process might inadvertently damage your health by choosing to ignore it for the time being. Here are some of the commonly experienced nasal allergies and what you should do to get relief from them-

1. Runny or stuffy nose
The best option is to just avoid allergy triggers. For example, if pollen is your allergen, then avoid going out during the times pollen count when it is reported to be high. Or, if animals make you sneeze, then make sure to have your hands washed and clothes changed after playing with them. Do not over-use decongestant sprays at all. If these symptoms persist for more than half a week, then it's time to seek your doctor's advice.

1. Uncontrollable Sneezing
Again, the best option is to avoid; but in many cases, it becomes difficult for you to avoid the allergen. In those cases, try antihistamine. If that doesn't work, then you can also go for a nasal steroid spray, but again, make sure to not over-use it.

2. Post Nasal Drip

Usually, you unconsciously swallow your mucus. But, if the mucus quantity increases, it becomes thicker and results in post-nasal drip. It isn't much common, but you can practically feel the mucus dripping into your throat from the back of the nose. It can result in a lumpy feeling in the throat and can cause irritation. You can try drinking more fluids and using a nasal spray to reduce the mucus quantity. If that doesn't work, then it's time to seek doctoral advice.

3. Eyes that itch
Watery eyes that itch are annoying companions of nose allergy and though they might not be a serious hazard for the eyes, you cannot ignore them. Try wearing sunglasses when you go out into a reportedly high-pollen-count weather. It might be a better option to forego contact lenses; they can escalate the entire eye-itching problem. If it becomes too itchy, you can place a cold washcloth over your eyes.

Testing an Allergy

Allergy testing is commonly done by skin prick test, in order to diagnose the allergens. Once, the allergens are diagnosed, immunotherapy can be stared, which will help in improving the symptoms of and in many cases, it provides a complete cure.

Compulsive Nose Picking (Rhinotillexomania)

Dr. Rajesh Jain 91% (574 ratings)

Compulsive Nose Picking (Rhinotillexomania)

Compulsive skin picking takes on the form of habitual nose picking (rhinotillexomania), there is particular need to beware the risk of causing very severe illness if the habit is allowed to develop to excess. Nose picking (rhinotillexomania) may need some of the same psychological and medical interventions that other forms of compulsive skin picking employ. The two disorders are so similar in nature that most treatment options for one works for the other.

  • The greek origins of the medical term for nose picking (rhinotillexomania) can be translated as" nose" (rhino) plus" habitual picking" (tillexis) plus" rage, fury" (mania) and together they provide a very telling description of the disorder. It's frequently because we are feeling suppressed rage and fury that we pick away habitually at the contents of our noses, even when we do it to the extent that we cause pain, which leads to more rage and fury. After all, the stuff in there's got to come out sometime. Right? everybody picks his or her nose from time to time. According to the records inscribed on a papyrus scroll from ca. 1330 bc, the ancient egyptian pharaoh tutankhamen provided the food and lodging of his own personal nose picker. And the imperial nose picker was paid three heads of cattle for his work, too. Most of us probably wouldn't want our own personal nose picker, especially those of us who have the tendency toward compulsive nose picking (rhinotillexomania). There's satisfaction in doing the work ourselves. There's relief. There's also danger.
  • Nose picking (rhinotillexomania) can lead to infections in the nose, which is situated very close to the brain. They share the same blood supply. Getting an infection anywhere in the area doctors call the" danger triangle" presents a good cause for alarm. The danger triangle can be traced from one corner of the mouth, over the bridge of the nose, and down to the opposite corner of the mouth. Any time infection in this area occurs, there is the very rare but very real risk that the infection can spread to the brain.
  • Most people who pick their noses for strictly hygienic purposes have little, if any, need to fear such an infection. However, anyone suffering from the compulsive form of nose picking (rhinotillexomania), who is at risk of picking excessively and to the point of impeding the healing process, is at greater risk of infection. The earliest medical intervention possible for the compulsion to pick may eliminate the necessity for antibiotics and emergency medical interventions due to infection later.

Nose Surgery - Is It Risk Free?

A nose surgery (rhinoplasty) is performed to alter the structure and shape of your nose and improve its function and or appearance. Here are a few things you should know about nose surgeries:

  1. Consult your doctor: Before deciding on undergoing a nose surgery, speak with your doctor regarding issues with your nose. Your doctor will check your problems and judge whether or not surgery is a feasible option. It is only with your doctor's confirmation that you should go for the surgery.
  2. Procedure:
    • The surgery is done either with local anesthesia (your nose and surrounding areas will be numbed) or general anesthesia (you will fall asleep).
    • The surgeon will make incisions in your nostrils and base of the nose and alter the shape, structure and position of the cartilages in your nose for appealing shape and better functionality. Polyp removal is also done by rhinoplasty.
  3. Recovery after the surgery: You will be required to wear a nose splint. You can expect swelling around the eyes, which will begin to subside after the third day. Swelling in the nose will go away after six months. Therefore, do not expect to see your results immediately, final condition of your nose will be apparent after the recovery period is over. You should avoid strenuous activity for 3 to 6 weeks. Do not smoke or drink alcohol during recovery. Smoking slows recovery time and alcohol reduces normal effects of drugs.

Type of rhinoplasty you can opt for

  1. Closed rhinoplasty: Incisions are made inside the nostrils and hence there is no scarring.
  2. Open rhinoplasty: An additional cut is made along the columella and this may result in scarring. However, the position of the scar is such that it is almost unnoticeable.

Risks associated with it

Any surgical procedure has certain risks. These risks associated with nose surgery include:

  1. Infection
  2. Adverse effect to anesthesia
  3. Unfavorable outcomes
  4. Visible scarring
  5. Numbness
  6. Difficulty breathing
  7. Chronic nosebleeds
  8. A perforated septum
  9. Hematoma
  10. Burst blood vessels
  11. Nervous damage
  12. Possibility of revision surgery

Post Surgical Care For Septoplasty!

Dr. Vineet Jain 85% (53 ratings)

Post Surgical Care For Septoplasty!

The nasal septum divides the nose into two nostrils or airways. When this septum is defective in structure or position, it can cause several physical difficulties like breathing problems, sleep apnea, bleeding, sinusitis, etc. The surgery to correct the nasal septum is known as septoplasty. The surgery is very common and has a high rate of success.

Reason: When the bone and cartilage separating the two chambers is crooked and deformed, it prevents the air from flowing properly through either one of the nostrils. People suffering from this condition often breathe through their mouth and this leads to respiratory tract infections. So, the septum is fixed with the help of septoplasty.

Procedure

  1. First, your medical history is taken. A thorough physical examination is conducted and the nose is photographed from the inside and the outside. You may also be asked to avoid medication like ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin for a few days since these can increase the bleeding after surgery.
  2. Septoplasty is performed under general or localized anesthesia and takes about 90 minutes. Incisions are made on the inside of the nose and the mucus membrane is lifted.
  3. Then, the pieces of cartilage that are affecting normal functioning are repositioned or removed.
  4. If the nasal bone is causing the septum to be wrongly aligned, then cuts are made on the bone and it is positioned correctly.
  5. Sometimes, cartilage grafts (called spreader grafts) are put in between the upper nose cartilage and the septum to widen the narrow nostril.
  6. After this, the mucus membrane is put back in place and stitched.

Post- surgical care: A nasal support is put inside the nose to help it heal and keep it straight. The support is removed after two days but there may be swelling and occasional nasal discharge for a few days. The tissues and cartilage become stable within 4 to 6 months. You are asked not to blow your nose or cough and sneeze too much as these might displace the nasal support. Plucking Your Nose Hair - Reasons Why You Must Stop Doing It Today!

Do you have the habit of plucking your nose hair? As unsightly or awkward they may be, your nose hair can actually play an important role in keeping you healthy. So the next time you grab your tweezers or scissors to pluck your nose hair, do rethink and stop doing it.

The time when you feel like your nose is swamped with thick or dense hair, people often use tweezers or your fingers to pluck them out. Some of them even go to the extent of waxing it off. However, before you get there, be watchful.

There are two kinds of nose hair:

  • Vibrissae: The frontal nose hair that is visible and plucked out from the nose
  • Microscopic cilia: Present at the back of the nose, these are responsible for filtering mucus and moving it to the back of the nose

Here are the reasons why you must stop plucking your nose hair:

  1. It can make you catch infections: When you pluck your front nose hair, you are more prone to catch an infection. Germs and particles near the follicles can get inside, without the Vibrissae.
  2. The danger triangle: The triangular area on the face between your mouth and nose is referred to as a danger triangle. This area is very important for brain function. The veins that carry blood out of the nose tend to converge with the veins that carry blood from the brain. If you pluck the nose hair, it can lead to the germs get carried all the way to the brain and potentially affect it causing conditions of meningitis or brain abscess.
  3. Bacteria and germs outbreak: When the nose hair is plucked or waxed, the entire pore is left exposed to bacteria and other germs to get in. If the cilia and other hairs of the nose are unable to prevent the onset of the germs build-up, then these harmful particles can delve deeper into the path of the body all the way up to the brain.

So, what is the right way to do it then? Trimming is the way to go!

The next time you want to get rid of your nose hair, if its over-grown or getting too irritating for you, consider trimming it instead. As long as you don’t get too close to the skin inside your nose, it will not lead to the danger triangle problem.

Also wash your nose well before trimming your nose hair. Washing out the pathogens from the nose before trimming is important so that it will reduce your chances of catching any infection. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.
