Naturopathy Treatment: Cost and Side Effects

Last Updated: Apr 25, 2024

What is the Naturopathy Treatment?

Naturopathy treatment goes back to Greek philosopher Hippocrates (2nd century B.C). According to the Hippocratic discipline of medicine, a patient should be considered as an organic whole. Therefore, while treatment his/her physiological as well psychological condition should be taken into consideration.

Naturopathy does not believe in medical intervention, as far as chemical compounds in medicines are concerned. It rather believes in the healing power of nature.

Modern naturopathy is all about an assortment of treatment methodologies including homeopathy, massage therapy, prescription of natural/herbal supplements, guidelines related to lifestyle and eating habits, acupuncture. Some doctors also implement methods such as Bio-Resonance, Ozone-Therapy and Colon Hydrotherapy as parts of naturopathic treatment.

Bio-Resonance therapy: It involves the placing of electrodes on your body. A machine is used to detect your energy wavelength and replaces bad frequency with good frequency. This treatment helps your body to regain the lost balance.

Ozone-therapy: It ultimate objective of the therapy is to increase the amount of oxygen in your body. The patient is given an injection composed of oxygen and various gases and liquids. It is a recommended method when it comes to the treatment of fatal diseases like cancer and AIDS.

Colon Hydrotherapy: This treatment is a natural procedure of cleansing the colon with warm water. Water is infused through the rectum. It eliminates feces, mucus and gas from the body and revitalizes it.

How is the Naturopathy Treatment done?

Like any other treatment, naturopathic treatment is also preceded by a normal consultation with the doctor, where you are assessed not only physically, but also emotionally. The entire process usually does not exceed an hour.

The patient would be interrogated and the questions will pertain to his/her medical history, condition, lifestyle and eating habits, and any traditional treatment that he/she might be undergoing. In order to evaluate the patient’s medical health a naturopathy practitioner might make use of interventional methods like iris testing, assessment of the nails and the tongue etc. A patient, depending on the kind of condition, may also have to perform stool test, hair test or blood test.

After the compete procedure and after the acquirement of test result, the doctor will come up with a prescription that caters to the entire body. Natural remedies are recommended that allows the entire body to heal on its own.

The natural remedies include herbal/natural supplements. This may include vitamins/mineral supplements. The doctor can also advice you to make some changes related to diet and lifestyle. Homeopathic medicines can also be prescribed. Naturopathic treatment also includes acupuncture and massage therapy. If your constitution demands restorative treatments like Colon Hydrotherapy and ozone therapy, your naturopathy practitioner will recommend those.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

Anybody who has failed to recover even after trying manifold allopathic treatments can opt for naturopathy, which is an alternative treatment and aims at restoring the lost balance of the body using natural remedies.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

If you are suffering from a broken bone or any disorders where a surgery is needed, naturopathy treatment would not work for you. It is because naturopathy treatment does not include imaging tests such as MRI.

Are there any side effects?

Naturopathic treatment is usually risk free. However if you are on allopathic drugs, some of the naturopathic medicines can tamper with the effects of those allopathic drugs. You should be careful about the doses if you are taking naturopathic medicines, because anything larger than the standard dose can even predispose you to something as fatal as Cancer.

Choose a reputed practitioner if you are going for naturopathic treatment. An untrained set of hands can lead to the damage of spine disks, nerves and even arteries, in rare cases, where pressure is exerted on your spinal cord as part of the treatment.

If you are a diabetic patient it is better for you to not go for naturopathic treatments that involve dietary constraints. A diabetic patient needs certain nutrients to survive and naturopathic treatment might prevent you from the intake of those vital nutrients.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

A naturopathic doctor may recommend some homeopathic medicines for you. In many cases he/she might suggest some dietary and lifestyle regimes. In order to recover completely, you need to follow the diet chart set by the doctor and also maintain those lifestyle-related practices through and through.

The intake of homeopathic medicines as well as certain herbal supplements should be followed by some measures. For example, before and after the consumption of many homeopathic drugs you cannot eat strong-smelling vegetables like garlic and onion. Some homeopathic medicines work well with the intake of lots of fluids.

To know the complete in and outs of aftercare treatment ask these questions to your doctor:

Do I need to restrict myself from certain foods?

Do I stop taking other medications?

Do I need to seek other naturopathic treatments like acupuncture or massage therapy?

How long does it take to recover?

The purpose of Naturopathic treatment is to heal the person inside out naturally. Artificial means of intervention is not a part of naturopathic treatment. And, since the patient is given a chance to regain the lost balance as a result of complete co-operation with nature, it takes time. It can take a minimum of 6 months for a person to heal properly. It can also take 2 years. If a patient with chronic or fatal illness opts for naturopathic treatment he/she might have to continue the routines recommended by the doctor throughout his/her life. The fact that naturopathic treatment has very less side effects makes it easier for a person to continue the treatment, even if it is of a perpetual kind.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

In India the treartment cost can be anywhere between INR 1250 to INR 3000 per session depending on the practitioner's remuneration and the popularity of the center from where you are seeking naturopathic treatment.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

If you folllow the advice of your doctor accurately you will definitely get permanent reasults out of naturopathic treatment.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?
