Myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina, rather than directly on its surface. Let's discuss your problem in detail for better advice and medication plan.

This common eyesight problem makes distant objects appear blurry, while close objects still appear sharp.
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is one of the most common eyesight problems. People with this condition can't focus their eyesight on far-away objects, making them appear blurry.
A complete eye exam by an optometrist can easily detect nearsightedness.

A cone-shaped cornea causes blurred vision and may cause sensitivity to light and glare. Keratoconus usually affects both eyes and generally begins to first affect people ages 10 to 25. The condition may progress slowly for 10 years or longer.
In the early stages of keratoconus, you can correct vision problems with glasses or soft contact lenses. Later, you may have to be fitted with rigid, gas permeable contact lenses or other types of lenses. If your condition progresses to an advanced sta...more

Between myopia or short-sightedness and hypermetropia or farsightedness, the latter is less common. However, this does not make it any less important. Farsightedness or long sightedness refers to a refractive error in the eye lens that creates problems focusing on objects nearby. This is because the light entering the eye does not converge on the retina but does so behind the retina.
Long-sightedness can be caused by a number of factors. Some of these are:

People with myopia can have difficulty clearly seeing a movie or TV screen, a whiteboard in school or while driving. Myopia occurs if the eyeball is too long or the cornea (the clear front cover of the eye) is too curved. As a result, the light entering the eye isn't focused correctly, and distant objects look blurred. Let's discuss your concern so that we can provide the best medical plan.

You may use corrective contact lenses to avoid wearing glasses for now. A lasik refractive corrective surgery may also help. If you are really motivated to get rid of your glasses then you may need a consultation for this and a surgery can be recommended after your spectacle power has stabilised for a period of at least one year.

When was the last time you visited an ophthalmologist? Chances are that unless you faced a problem in your eyes recently, it must have been months or even years. Most people only visit an eye specialist s clinic when they experience some eye problem.
This is not a good practice since the best way to avoid severe eye complications is to detect them in their early stages. Since some eye conditions are asymptomatic in their early stages, these conditions cannot be detected without a compre...more
