Pre-wedding Sexual Nutrition - Rasayana!

Pre-wedding time can be full of extreme emotions such as sadness, happiness, or confusion. Marriage is one of the most important phases in one’s life. Hence, it is essential to be prepared for it in every way so that you can fulfill your marital responsibilities with your partner.

One aspect of a happy married life is sexual health. Pre-wedding time is optimal to start investing in sexual health for pursuing marital responsibilities effectively. For this, you need to maintain a nutritious diet plan that helps in the proper functioning of the reproductive system in your body. This nutritious diet can be maintained with the help of Ayurveda.

In Ayurveda, the balance of the energy levels is important to maintain the healthy functioning of the organs and tissues in the body. The purification of this energy is equally essential. This energy is refined/purified to develop Ojas; representing the self-healing or restorative body capacity.

Since reproductive tissue (Shukra Dhatu) is regarded as a psychological treasure for energy, the purification of this energy assists in proper and healthy functioning of the reproductive system. Healthy Ojas means an ideal balance of mind, body, and spirit.

Medication and Herbs as Sexual Nutrition

Sexual activity is a kind of vigorous exercise. Inactive individuals tend to lose energy quickly during sexual activity. In Ayurveda, there are various herbs that focus on improving one’s energy levels and sexual health.
There are two prominent herb branches in Ayurveda: Vajikarana and Rasayana. Vajikarana herbs mainly work on a regenerative approach that stimulates potency of sexual organs and hormones. Rasayana herbs are revitalizing medicines that have regenerative functions. These herbs help in revitalizing the reproductive system.

● Withania somnifera or Ashwagandha is a Rasayana herb that revitalizes the antioxidant enzymes in the body. It also helps in balancing the sex hormones. In men, it helps in improving sperm count and sperm motility.
Asparagus racemosa or Shatavari is considered as an effective Ayurveda medicine for women. The compounds present in Shatavari improve egg maturation and ovulation in young females. For older women, this herb helps in soothing menopause symptoms and maintaining proper functioning of sexual organs.
● Tribulus terrestris or Gokhsura herb is a commonly known aphrodisiac. This herb affects the hormone levels and has the capacity to increase luteinizing hormone (a regulating hormone) and androgens such as DHEA, Dihydrotestosterone, and Testosterone. In men, Gokhsura herb improves sexual function.
● Asphaltum punjabium or Shilajeet is regarded as an exceptional source of approximately eighty-five minerals in ionic forms. In men, this herb helps improve follicle stimulation and testosterone hormone. It also enhances sperm count and motility.

Takeaway

Sexual life is as important as any other dimension of life and one must look after her/his sexual health seriously. In Ayurveda, there are a number of herbs which help in improving the sexual health in both men and women together. Also, Ayurveda helps in maintaining a balanced diet and sleep cycle in one’s lifestyle. These herbs help rejuvenate reproductive tissues and ultimately improve the overall health of an individual.

Tips For Maintaining Optimum Urological Health!

Tips For Maintaining Optimum Urological Health!

The urinary system in both men and women are susceptible to infections and many other internal disorders. Although many of the disorders may be caused due to underlying diseases or hereditary causes, many others may be caused due to bad lifestyle habits as well as personal hygiene issues. Personal hygiene issues will not only lead to infections, but if left unchanged, may cause more serious problems such as tumors over time. However, with the help of some basic tips and following some daily routine, you can ensure good urological health over time. Some of these are mentioned below:

  1. Drink plenty of water daily: This is applicable to both men and women and it is important, especially in a country like India where hot and humid conditions prevail for most of the time. A common figure quoted most of the time is 2 to 3 liters of water daily although this is quite arbitrary and may change from person to person and climate to climate. What is important is that you should remain hydrated and calculate an ideal amount of water consumption. This is necessary to stop stone formation in the gallbladder, kidney, ureter and other areas of the genitourinary system.
  2. Cleaning tips for men: It is important to ensure proper hygiene for good penile health. Uncircumcised males should retract their foreskin while taking a bath and clean out the smegma or white accumulations from around the glans. This will reduce the chances of inflammations and urinary tract infections from occurring. Circumcised males should thoroughly wash the penis as well to keep it clean.
  3. Regular ejaculation: Men are advised to ejaculate regularly either through masturbation or through sexual stimulation as it is beneficial in many ways. Ejaculation helps clear the tracts, exercises the prostate and also keeps the pattern of proper blood flow to the penis active. It maintains urological health as well as your sexual health.
  4. Don’t hold your urine for too long: Although this is especially applicable for women, it can be bad for men too. Holding the urine within your body for too long may result in an infection and may also make your bladder muscles weaker resulting in urinary incontinence later in life. Women, especially should be careful as they have a shorter urethra leading from the bladder and thus are more prone to getting urinary tract infections in this manner.
  5. Avoid harsh soaps and use milder ones to regularly cleanse the groin area: The groin is one of the moistest areas, as it remains covered up most of the time. This makes it an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. It is important that you clean this area every day thoroughly with mild soap. Also, after urination, women should wipe front to back i.e. from the opening of the vagina towards the anus while wiping down after urinating or cleaning. This is to ensure that fecal bacteria don’t get into the vagina as it can cause a host of infections.
  6. Tips for sexual intercourse: It is important for both men and women to urinate, wash and clean after sexual intercourse as this can help clean the bacteria that may have come from one partner’s genitals into the other. Women should especially follow this advice as it can help keep many infections at bay.
  7. Changes in certain foods: Reduce caffeine intake through tea or coffee as it can irritate your bladder. It can also act as a diuretic which makes you urinate frequently. This will result in your bladder becoming weaker. Also, reduce salt intake as it can increase blood pressure and end up damaging the kidney to the point of permanent kidney damage or kidney failure.

Testosterone Levels - Why To Measure It?

The body and its functions depend to a great extent on the play of hormones, which can greatly affect how we function and the quality of life that we enjoy. Men and women have many different kinds of hormones. Testosterone is a male hormone that found mainly in the testicles of males, and is responsible for the development of their sexual behaviour and other typical male characteristics.

Why Measure Testosterone: This hormone affects the physical, mental and emotional side of men to a great extent and an alteration can also cause health problems. For example, symptoms like sudden weight gain and mood swings are just a few that can point towards a low T score, which is a measure of testosterone. This is why it is important to measure the levels of this hormone.

There are many ways to measure the testosterone levels in men, as follows.

1. Sweat: One of the foremost ways to measure the testosterone levels is to get acquainted with the sweat and its smell, which is basically a function of the apocrine glands. The more you sweat, the more testosterone you have in your body.

2. Testicles: The size of the testicles also determines how much testosterone your body is producing. The smaller the size, the lower the level; while larger and firmer testicles will mean that your body is producing high levels of testosterone.

3. Erections: The erection that a male enjoys is driven basically by the level of testosterone being produced in the body. The size and frequency of the erection basically speaks volumes of the T score. Infrequent and small erections can point at low levels of testosterone, low levels of nitric oxide, as well as malfunctioning dopamine receptors.

4. Saliva and Blood Spot Test: This home based test kit or a blood test at the doctor's clinic can measure the level of testosterone that is being produced in the body, with the help of a vial that can ask for either saliva or blood In this method, you need to remember that the T score depends on the time of the day and is usually highest in the morning. Also, a blood test conducted by a doctor will have more accurate results.

5. Weight: The amount of weight and fat on the person's body is also an indication of the T score. When you have excess fat, the aromatase enzymes will convert testosterone into estrogen, which is basically a female hormone. This will give rise to low testosterone levels.
The testosterone level is an important indicator of male health and should not be ignored.

Male Sexual Hormone - Signs That You Have Low Testosterone!

Testosterone is an important hormone for men and is responsible for male sexual and reproductive health. It begins to spike during the years of puberty, helping in the development of primary and secondary sexual characters. In boys, it helps to build muscles, deepens his voice, and boosts the size of their penis and testes. It plays an important role during later years as well, by maintaining mood, libido, emotional and physical health. That's why low testosterone can cause a variety of problems in men.

Here is a list of symptoms that will help you understand if you may have lower testosterone levels.

1. Drop in Energy: Sometimes, we all feel full of energy, but sometimes those energy levels are quite low. And then, there are occasions when we feel low on energy, you may feel that you are getting tired easily and frequently. Fatigue is one of the common effects of low testosterone. If this happens with you regularly, if you are tired all the time despite sleeping for 6-8 hours, consider getting yourself checked by a consultant.

2. Changes in Sex Life: A sudden drop in your sex drive or facing problems in erection (erectile dysfunction) can be another  common symptom of low testosterone. But you should get yourself tested for other conditions as well, including heart disease or diabetes, especially if you are over 35 years of age. Ask for online consultation if you want everything to be private and discreet.

3. Fuzzy Thinking: Do you sometimes think that your thoughts are a blur? Low testosterone can also impact your memory. It can make you feel stressed, sad and even depressed, resulting in concentration problems. These  can be a result of low testosterone

4. Mood Changes: Testosterone directly impacts your mood, even leading to extreme sadness or psychological depression. If nothing seems to make you happy, if you are not what you used to be, then visit a doctor.

5. Muscle Changes: Muscle mass and strength reduces over the years. As testosterone helps build muscle, low levels may be the cause if you witness sudden drop in muscle mass. In such a case you should consult a doctor. It can be because of low hormone function.

6. More Body Fat: If you have been enjoying a more fit or healthier weight most of your life but suddenly start gaining weight, it might point towards low testosterone in the body. Also, if you are unable to lose weight even on a healthy diet, consider consulting a doctor.

Premature Ejaculation - Knowing The Causes Behind It!

It is important for you to both take care of your body and love your body. At times due to certain factors our body does not perform the way we wants it to. There are various phases of sexual activity that include attraction, stimulation, excitement and peak. These stages usually come in close sequence and follow a normal course until the sexual peak ends in sexual orgasm.

Yet, this process can be hindered by a condition known as premature ejaculation that many men suffer from. Premature ejaculation happens when a man ejaculates sooner than required or planned, in the process of sexual activity and intercourse. This usually happens within a minute or so of penetration. There are a variety of causes for this, starting from biological to psychological. Read on to know more about these causes.

  1. Erectile Dysfunction: This condition is one where the male patient experiences trouble during sexual encounters and experiences. As per this condition, the patient will have difficulty in mustering up and thereafter, retaining an erection for satisfactory sexual intercourse. This condition can also contribute to premature ejaculation.
  2. Chronic Health Issues: Many male patients who are suffering from chronic health issues are at
  3. serious risk of developing premature ejaculation in the long run. These health issues range from diabetes to heart disease. Due to these diseases and ailments, the patient may feel considerable stress or even may not be able to ejaculate later in the process of intercourse.
  4. Anxiety: Anxiety is one of the primary reasons for such physical problems that one experiences during sex. These patients may be suffering from anxiety due to their performance in bed, or they may be anxious about a new relationship or partner. This anxiety can lead to a state where the patient is not able to fully enjoy the act of intercourse and ends up ejaculating prematurely.
  5. Relationship problems: Another issue that many male patients suffering from this condition face includes relationship problems. These problems can create trouble in the sex life of the patient due to which sex may not be happening on a frequent or regular basis. Due to this, the ejaculation may also suffer, leading to further stress.
  6. Biological Issues: There are a number of biological problems due to which men may also experience premature ejaculation and other related health issues. Abnormal hormonal levels and an imbalance in the state of one's hormones can lead to this condition. Also, there are instances where the neurotransmitters of the brain enjoy an abnormal level of activity which can lead to an abnormal reflex reaction in the ejaculatory system of the patient. Nerve damage can also lead to this condition.
  7. Thyroid: Male patients suffering from thyroid problems have also reported instances where premature ejaculation becomes a problem.

This condition can also be an inherited one. It is best to take a professional opinion and seek therapy for treatment.
