Melanocytes are cells contained in the basal or outer layer of the skin, called the epidermis. These cells create melanin, which pigments the skin. People with more melanin have darker skin tones. The more melanin you have, the more protection your skin has against the damaging effects of the sun. Sun-damaged skin increases your risk of skin cancer. Certain vitamins can help increase and maintain the number of melanocytes in the skin. Always talk to your doctor before changing your diet or takin...more

Almonds= Grind 8 to 10 almonds to make a coarse paste and add enough honey to make a thick paste. Smear this mixture on the affected skin, massage for 5 minutes and leave it on for another 20 minutes. Wash off the pack with lukewarm water. Follow this cure 3 to 4 times a week till the melasma is gone completely.

Hydroquinone on regular basis can reduce melanin easily. A cream with monobenzone can also reduce melanin leading to making the skin fairer permanently. There are various ointments that help in reducing the levels of melanin permanently. Collagen, antioxidants and Vitamin C make skin fairer and more flexible.

Hello lybrate-user.
It is our genetic coding that is responsible to cause excess melanin. And sun exposure aggravates it.
So to reduce it you will need to limit the sun exposure in the first place.
There are some medicines like glutathione which can reduce it but they are all not a permanent solution. And you will need to keep taking them.
You can start taking glutathione capsules availabe online on healthkart like sites.

Mix sandalwood powder with rose water then apply it to the areas that are dark with melanin. By applying this mixture daily, you can cool down your skin. Since melanin production increases with heat, lowering your skin's temperature reduces this process, giving you fairer skin.

Premature greying of hair can be due to stress, smoking, nutritional deficiency, thyroid disorder, chemical use over hair etc. but most important cause is hereditary factor.

As such nothing much can be done for premature greying esp if it is hereditary or familial. The hair that has turned white would remain so but its progression can be prevented to some extent by taking hair supplements containing calcium pantothenate and PABA. For the same you may take tablet follihair one daily. more
