Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male). Normal values will vary from laboratory to laboratory. To reduce the uric acid levels in blood, you may need to limit intake of alcohol, sugary foods and reduce purine rich foods like meat, poultry, seafood and pulses. Vegetables such as cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, peas and mushroom also contain a lot of purines

The first thing you should do is to eat foods that are high in fiber, This is because fiber rich foods absorb uric acid from the blood. Your kidneys then 'throw' out the excess uric acid. Try to eat Oatmeal, Spinach, cauliflowers and Isabgol in milk if possible.

Eat less purine containing diet that is less protein. Avoid pulses, meat etc.
Avoid processed and fermented food.

1. Avoid protein rich diets like mutton, egg, fish, sea food (sardines)/prawn
2.Avoid pulses, lentill, mushrooms, green leafy vegetablles like broccoli, cauli flower, cabbage, spinach, beans, peas
3. Take fruits like apple, banana, orange, black cherry, lime etc
4. Drink plenty of water (8-10 glass) daily
5. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, excess sweets cakes/cookies
6.Reduce weight if overweight
7. Take medicine after consulting physician.

Reveiwed reports, renal function is altered, uric acid is raised, blood urea and serum creatinine are also raised ,need to get a Renal scan, and at the same time improve hydration (2.5-3 litres of water daily for 3 days) and get a repeat KFT test done after 3 days of hydration therapy .Also get started with treatment for raised uric acid from a nephrologist.

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
