Chemotherapy in stage 4 is as such not intended to be curative, its just palliative to relieve symptoms and prolong some life. If you have opted not to receive chemotherapy after understanding all its pros and cons then its your wish which matters the most. You may still receive other palliative treatments required to relieve you of your sufferings due to disease.

It depends on the general condition of the patient. Also stage 4 means usually palliation, so the intention is not cure, but a reasonable quality of life and if possible disease control. May be palliative chemotherapy if patient can tolerate and palliative radiation if the patient has painful bone metastasis or brain metastasis.

As she has been started on chemotherapy, her immunity will come down. Means her body's power to fight against infection is down thats why she is getting recurrent infection. But no need to worry, just give her nutritious food and treat the infections accordingly.

There is no such thing as best chemotherapy. The oncologist first evaluates whether the cancer is in early stage or late. In early stages we can do surgery. In late stages, the patients general condition will be assessed and something called as receptor status is studied. Based on these the further chemotherapy is planned which is ideally suited for his general condition and his tumour type.

Stage 4 lung cancer has a palliative role and may benefit in symptoms as well and may prolong some life. No hair loss a good thing. Cycle frequency is 3-4 weeks depending upon the regimen. If delayed can have poorer results.
