Moderate grade injuries might require rest for atleast a week, painkillers, ice fomentation, limb elevation and toe movements and sometimes immobilization in a plaster. Hi,
first and foremost, do lot of icing around your ankle. Do not do any hot fomentation right now if the injury is 2-3 days old.
Secondly, you need to tie crepe bandage around the joint, in a way that it restricts the movement which caused the injury.
No plaster required if no bony involvement.
Important thing to understand about ligament injuries is, they take a lot of time to heal. They will heal faster only if you give it good rest.
