Some side effects include under and overcorrection, dryness,glare etc

Serious side effects include infection etc but this is rare

For defence aspirants LASIK (either blade free/ flap less etc) is not advisable as the strength of the cornea is compromised due to the procedure. In the event of a combat, there is a chance that the flap may get dislodged. You can go for contact lenses.
