Well influenza is a viral infection to upper respiratory tract, from nose to tracheal and down too. Irritation caused by influenza virus thereby inflammation of the mucus membranes and exudation occurs. Malaise and fever also in severe condition will be present. As the course usually runs for a week, it subsides normally unless any super added bacterial infection also to continue it.

Which leads to persistent anaemia.
Those with beta thalassemia major require l8fe long blood transfusion from a very early age.
Other types generally require infrequent transfusions if the need arises.
Most will do fine with filic acid supplements.
Yes, bone marrow transplant is a definite cure for eta thalassemia major.
