You are seeking help and this itself is a step forward. Since you are on medication for a long time, please don't stop the medicines without consulting your doctor. Yes, medicines do have some side effects, but if you don't take these prescribed medicines, the result will be worse.
You need psychotherapy. Kindly get in touch with a counsellor who will explore with you, the history of these attacks, what are the triggers now and how to manage it.

The swelling may be thrombophlebitis or dependent edema. Keep the limb elevated and apply glycerin mag sulf dressing daily. And phsiotherapy is important to relieve both paralysis and swelling.

Give him mental strength by your magical positive words. Don't ignore him and his needs. After some time you can start speech therapy with love and affection. Keep patience and be a strength of your father, he will be all right soon.

You can give her high protein diet, such as fish, chicken, eggs. Also milk and dry fruits. Continue physiotherapy.
