Hymenoplasty - Treatment, Procedure And Side Effects

How is the treatment done?

First of all, you will need to schedule a consultation with the doctor to discuss the procedure and make your expectations clear and concise. The doctor will give you an insight about the surgery along with instructions to prepare for hymenoplasty.

  • The basic technique - If there are remains of the hymen, it can be stitched back together. A local or sometimes a general anesthesia will be administered to prevent pain and discomfort. The surgeon will then sew the torn parts together – the stitches are dissolvable. The entire surgery takes around 30 to 40 minutes and it is usually done on an outpatient basis.
  • The Alloplant technique – This technique is followed when the remnants cannot be stitched back together. The surgeon will insert a biomaterial into the vagina and this tear-through material will function as the hymen. This procedure takes around two hours and you will be under local anesthesia.
  • Hymen reconstruction – In this procedure, the surgeon will create a new hymen using tissues from the lip of the vagina. However, this method will require you to abstain from sexual intercourse for a minimum of three months.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

Usually, women seek hymenoplasty for cultural and religious reasons. In most cases, the person would have lost her virginity in an intercourse and wants to restore it before her marriage. In some cases, the girl would have lost her hymen due to non-sexual activities, but yet again due to the religious or social norms, they find it imperative to repair the hymen.

The suitable candidates are –

  • Those who have ruptured their hymen due to sex or other activities
  • Those who are above 18 years of age
  • Women who are healthy and don’t suffer from any serious illnesses

A gynecological exam is also necessary to determine if your hymen can be restored or not.

In case the woman is suffering from cancer of the genital or venereal diseases, only then she is not eligible for the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Some of the potential side-effects of hymenoplasty include –

However, these are minor side-effects and the medical team will make sure that it takes all the necessary precautions to avoid the issues and lessen the discomfort.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

The patient will be observed for a few hours in the recovery room after the treatment and if there are no complications, she will be relieved. The individual can resume work after 3 to 4 days. However, it is advised to begin moderate activities only after 10 days.

Some of the other guidelines include:

  • You will need to keep the area clean and will be on antibiotics to prevent any infection.
  • You should use warm compresses and ice-packs to ease pain and swelling.
  • You can take a bath 2 – 3 days after the surgery.
  • You need to refrain from sex till 8 weeks after the surgery.

How long does it take to recover?

It takes around 4 to 6 weeks for complete healing.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

The cost of hymenoplasty depends largely on the healthcare facility. At public hospitals, the treatment will cost you around INR 14,000 to INR 15,000 whereas, at a private hospital, the same will cost you INR 50,000 to INR 60,000.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

Indeed, with the advancement in the medical technology, treatments do have long lasting effect and the results are witnessed for a longer period of time. Hymenoplasty, in this regard is no different, especially with proper care, and enables the maintenance of restored hymen till the next sexual encounter.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

There are a couple of other alternatives to hymenoplasty such as –

  • Laser vaginal rejuvenation – In this procedure, laser beams are used for fix the torn hymen. This is also a non-invasive process, which is more comfortable and has a shorter recovery period.
  • Vaginoplasty – In this approach, the surgeon will tighten the vaginal tissue to create a healed hymen.

Both these alternatives do not deliver an un-ruptured hymen, but you will get a tightened vaginal opening.

How Hymenoplasty Can Help You Regain Your Virginity?

How Hymenoplasty Can Help You Regain Your Virginity?

Hymenoplasty, a medical term for hymen repair surgery, is a procedure of reconstructing the thin skin membrane made of elastic and fibrous tissue known as the hymen. Colloquially termed as revirgination, the purpose of hymenoplasty is to reconstruct the hymen, which often gets torn due to injury or extensive exercise. In some countries, the surgery is illegal due to social and cultural reasons.

How is hymenoplasty performed?
The hymen may be torn while cycling or performing gymnastics. In some cases, it is seen that a woman’s hymen is torn even before the first intercourse. In this surgery, the edges of the torn hymen are stitched together to make it whole again. The tissues involved gradually grow back and take the appearance of a natural hymen. In some cases, the vaginal walls are also tightened for achieving a virgin-like form. The process typically takes around half an hour, and the area is coated with antibiotic ointment so that it heals within a short span of time. At times, there are no hymeneal remnants, or the available parts cannot be used. In such a situation, the surgeon reduces the opening of the vagina with the help of vaginal mucous tissue. When it becomes impossible to reconstruct the hymen, surgeons opt for hymen implantation, which functions in a similar way as that of a natural hymen.

What are the benefits of hymenoplasty?
For many women, hymenoplasty is nothing but a useless extravagance; but for some, this aesthetic surgery brings a host of benefits which may include making the first night of courtship special by regaining that symbol of virginity and possessing a sense of personal comfort and ownership. In some cultures as well as religious communities, a high value is imposed on virgins before marriage. In communities that consider hymen to be a proof of sexual status, rupture of the same can bring about a social disaster. In such situations, hymenoplasty can come to the rescue.

Who is a good candidate for hymenoplasty?
Women who are healthy enough and have realistic expectations about the surgery are the best candidates for hymenoplasty. Hymen reconstruction can help a woman to enjoy her virginity once again. In case the woman is suffering from any relationship crisis owing to rupture of the hymen, then experts suggest that she must consult with a family and a relationship counselor as well.

How long does it take it recover from hymenoplasty?
In most cases, patients can return to their usual routines the day following the surgery. But it is crucial to avoid strenuous work or exercise. If you have undergone dissolvable suture, then there is no need to remove it. Regardless of the type of stitch, it is critical to attend to the follow-up treatment to ensure a safe and effortless healing of the hymen. One must wait at least 3 to 4 weeks before indulging in sexual intercourse.

Hymenoplasty - Know The Procedures Involved In It?

Not many people are aware of the term Hymenoplasty. For some people, an intact hymen has a great significance (often an indication of a female virginity). However, you don't always need an intercourse for the hymen sheath (a thin tissue membrane that surrounds the external opening of the vagina) to break. Activities such as horse riding, gymnastics, swimming, to name a few, can play a pivotal role bringing about the rupture of the hymen.

For long, people believed that a hymen, once ruptured, can never be restored. With the advancement of technology, this fact is slowly getting transformed into a myth. With Hymenoplasty (also called as a Hymen reconstruction surgery) one can achieve the impossible i.e reconstruction of a ruptured hymen surgically. Hymenoplasty also comes as a blessing for women born without a hymen. In this case, a Hymenoplasty aids in creating a new hymen, making life a lot easier for the concerned person.

Procedure involved in a Hymenoplasty

  • Before opting for a Hymenoplasty, one should have a proper understanding of the surgical procedure, including the pros and the cons. Thus, a consultation with the surgeon (should be experienced with impressive credentials and success rate) is of prime importance.
  • Once you are fully prepared (physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially), the surgeon will fix a date for the surgery.
  • Hymenoplasty is a hassle-free procedure that involves the following steps.
    • Before the surgery, a local anesthesia is given to the patient to make the procedure less painful.
    • The ruptured edges of the hymen tissues are then carefully sutured together. The suturing of the hymen is done in such a way that the vaginal opening is not fully covered or concealed.
    • In some cases, a new hymen may also be constructed using the flap of skin present in the vaginal lining.
  • The entire procedure of Hymenoplasty seldom takes more than two hours. The patient, however, needs to be thoroughly observed and monitored for the next two-three hours (for signs of any complications or extreme side effects and discomfort).
  • The complete healing and recovery may take between six-eight weeks.
  • In most of the cases, the patient is discharged on the same day.

The risks associated with Hymenoplasty
There is seldom any extreme complications or risks associated with Hymenoplasty. However, mild pain, swelling, tightening of the vaginal wall, and bleeding are some of the side-effects that may persist for a few days following the surgery.

Precautions one must take
The following precautionary measures can work wonders, ensuring a better recovery sans any complications.

  • Physical activities such as strenuous exercise, swimming, aerobics should be avoided for at least a few weeks or as recommended by the doctor.
  • Do not indulge in sex immediately after Hymenoplasty. In most cases, doctors advise four weeks break from sexual intercourse following the hymen restoration surgery.
  • Going for Epsom salt baths (sitting on it) at least twice or thrice a week can work wonders, speeding up the healing process.

What is Cosmetogynaecology?

What is Cosmetogynaecology?

What is Cosmetogynaecology?

Cosmetogynaecology refers to the specialization in female cosmetic medicine and surgery. We live in an age where appearance primarily defines your personality and acts a great deal in boosting self-confidence and morale.

Since time immemorial, we have never been pleased with what have been given to us. Thanks to this trait, scientists are always looking for new ways to satisfy our needs. Don’t like your nose? Think it’s too fat? Want to look like Megan Fox?

Medical science can now do all this, and beyond!

What does Cosmetogynaecology include?

Cosmetogynaecology is a subset of cosmetic surgery that mainly caters to the needs of women and includes cosmetic procedures such as-

  1. G-spot Augmentation: This procedure mainly concentrates on increasing the size and sensitivity of the G-spot to amplify pleasure during intercourse. It is also known as G-spot amplification

  2. Genital area Bleaching and Resurfacing: Genital bleaching is a safe and easy way to whiten your intimate areas. As for genital resurfacing, it is a procedure to even out the appearance around the intimate area or to improve the colour on the clitoral hood.

  3. Labia Augmentation: This procedure includes the surgical enlargement of the Labia Majora (part of women’s genitalia) in order to improve the contour or increase the fullness to make it look more appealing.

  4. Vaginal Tightening: Several factors can lead to the loosening of the vaginal walls, including childbirth. This can reduce the pleasure during intercourse for you and your man. These treatments can be done by lasers, which are non-invasive and work wonders!

  5. Permanent Laser Hair Removal: We all know the extent of pain that women go through in order to make themselves fuzz-free. And the amount of money that goes in doing that annually is probably enormous. Laser hair removal can permanently take care of this issue and you will be ever ready for a party.

  6. Breast Size Augmentation or Reduction: Getting breast implants (silicone or saline) can be used to increase the size of your breasts if you are not too happy with your gifted assets. It can also be done for reconstructive purposes after undergoing mastectomy post breast cancer. On the other hand, large breasts can be the cause of chronic back pain. If that bothers you too much, you can have them reduced to your desired size.

  7. Vaginoplasty: Vaginoplasty is a plastic surgery for both the vaginal canal and the tissues of its mucous membrane that tightens. The procedure strengthens those muscles and tissues while removing excess or damaged lining from the canal. It is specifically designed to strengthen and enhance the working of the vulva-vaginal body structures. When vaginal plastic surgery is performed to specifically construct or reconstruct the vulva-vaginal complex, either partially or totally, it is referred to as a neovaginoplasty. When the surgery is performed to specifically reshape the tissue and firm the muscles and lining of the vaginal canal for a more youthful appearance plus tighten up the canal after the stretching it endures through childbirth, then it is termed a vagina reduction for cosmetic reconstruction and is considered an elective surgical procedure.

  8. Hymenoplasty: Hymenoplasty is the procedure to restore natural hymen to regain virginity. In simple words, hymenoplasty is repair of broken hymen or ruptured hymen and is the sure shot way to restore or regain virginity. The layered ultrafine microsurgical repair of hymen being done at Olmec leads to a normal hymen without any sign of repair and without any sign of lost virginity.

  9. Clitoroplasty: A clitoroplasty is a surgical procedure that refines or improves the appearance of a woman’s clitoris. It can also be performed to create an artificial clitoris in men undergoing sex reassignment surgery. It is also known as clitoral hood reduction, as it can reduce the size of the clitoral hood in some patients.

  10. Labiaplasty: Labia surgery, which usually involves labia reduction—and vaginal rejuvenation, or tightening, are becoming as common today as other cosmetic procedures. New advancements and techniques in Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty typically lessen scarring, pain, recovery time, and show excellent results in the area sometimes referred to as Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery.

Hymenoplasty - What Are The Benefits And Procedure?

Hymenoplasty - What Are The Benefits And Procedure?

These days everything is available, including a new body. You can get a new nose, jaw, perky breasts and yes, a brand new hymen as well, all through plastic surgery. The procedure of hymen restoration or reconstruction is called hymenoplasty, hymenorrhaphy, virginity surgery or just hymen reconstruction surgery. The hymen, as you know is a ring-like membrane in a woman’s vagina. It usually ruptures due to vigorous exercise or sexual penetration. This is also usually the reason many women, egged on by families, decide to go for the reconstruction of their hymen because certain cultures value female virginity and losing one’s virginity before marriage is a taboo.

Benefits: The benefits of hymenoplasty , if any, are that it allows women to take control of their futures in conservative societies. If she has been sexually active pre-marriage, she can still decide to go for a traditional marriage without the fear of ostracization. Hymenoplasty surgery restores the ability of the hymen to bleed at intercourse on the wedding night. Victims of sexual assault can also use the procedure to get over the traumatic event and its memories. Some women like to get a hymen rejuvenation to feel young again.

Procedure: Hymenorrhaphy can be done months or years after a woman loses her virginity. It must be performed only by a plastic surgeon. In this procedure, the torn edges of the hymen are sutured back together. If done correctly, the touched-up hymen appears as good as new and bleeds on sexual penetration. Sutures dissolve by themselves after a few days. Hospital stay is only 5-6 hours post hymenorrhaphy. The procedure is done under anesthesia and it usually takes less than an hour to finish. Patients are discharged from hospital the same day and are advised not to do any vigorous activity like playing games, climbing stairs, and of course sex.

Risk involved: There are no documented risks of hymenoplasty and there are no complications either, if the surgeon is good. If an adverse reaction occurs, it’s temporary. Usually any discomfort in the private parts and swelling in the outer parts of the vagina usually subsides within days.

Recovery: The recovery time is minimal and the patient can return to work next day, if she wants. Complete healing, though, takes approximately 4 weeks. Good hygiene is important to avoid infection. Patients are advised to contact their doctor immediately after a hymenorrhaphy if there is fever, abdominal pain, bleeding from vagina or the reconstructed hymen. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Do you mean hymen rupture. Loss of virginity actually means having sex. You probably mean hymen rupture. It can be repaired by a plastic surgeon. But normally it does not make any difference to one's life. Even male partner may not make out.

Cosmetic Vaginal Surgeries
I am Dr Arpana Jain, senior gynecologist, attached with Fortis hospital Delhi.

Today we are discussing about cosmetic surgery related to vagina i.e., cosmetic vaginal surgeries. Because of increasing awareness and self-realization of the body, this surgery is in great demand. There are various procedures which we can do To improve the cosmetic problem related to vagina portion. One is vaginoplasty when the vagina lacks because of repeated childbirth, the vagina becomes very loose, and there is decreased sexual pleasure. To increase that, the vaginal uterus can be reduced with surgery, and other is labiality. It is basically the term for labia minora because the inner lip of labia which is very large because of that there is difficulty in walking and there can be difficulty in sexual relation also it leads to a lot of problems, and cosmetically it is also not good. The surgery can be done to reduce the size of this lip. And the other is hymenoplasty, this is a thin membrane over the vagina and after relation it is broken, to repair that membrane and to make the woman virgin again the hymen membrane can be stitched again to make woman virgin. Another point is labia major augmentation. Sometimes it is the outer lip of vulva, which is very thin which is cosmetically not very good, so it can be augmented with putting the backup fat below this to make it beautiful. Another is vulvar lipoclastic. When it is very thick, the labia is very thick, it is very full of backup fats sometimes it becomes very bad looking so it can be reduced by liposuction. Another is G point augmentation, and clitoral hood reduction, sometimes there is long skin layer on G point, it can be reduced the clitoral hood which can be reduced and these two surgeries G point augmentation and clitoral hood reduction is basically to improve the sexual desire. These cosmetic surgeries are increasing day by day to improve the sexual desire and pleasure and because of the cosmetic region, we are doing this which is really really fine.
