When "patch test" is recommended for intermittent exotropia? My doctor said that I have no squint by performing "cover test" is "cover test" is enough to say that I have no squint? When I see my own eye in mirror for 20 seconds approx my eyes starts slightly deviating outward but squint specialist said that I have no squint. Whatever I see is illusion or doctor failed to catch my squint?

if on cover test, there is no squint then do not worry. Cover test is best test to appreciate squint.

Its been 2 weeks I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery. So one thing I noticed that doctor has not removed the bony spur on right due to which I had breathing problems. When I asked him he said he has changed the angle of spur and we cannot remove it. Is it so? And I am still facing breathing problems. How long it will take to recover completely? Shall I eat/drink cold stuff like cold-drink or ice cream?

lybrate-user, you will need to wait for 3 months before your nose could be reoperated. So, get a CT-PNS scan after 3 months and if the obstruction is radiologically confirmed, find another better ENT Surgeon to revise the surgery. REMEMBER- If you pay peanuts, you will only get monkeys!

I have continuous lower leg pain from 3-4 years may be more (b/w knee to ankle), feel weak leg & bone, also having burning sensation and numbness. Taking D3 & B12 from 1-2 years as it was low now still no change. Please find the attached health checkup report. It's looks some other problem, is it something related to Shin splints just check over the internet, When I touch the leg I can feel the shin bone detached from muscle. Could you let me know what exactly the problem and the treatment for the same. I have leg pain in both lower limbs. I can feel the sensation all the time. When I walk it starts paining. If I run I feel more pain, more pressure on leg causes more pain. I feel like both legs are very weak. When I use the stair it gets pain. I'm able to walk with slippers, get up from sitting position not having issue with my knees but if I'm sitting in a particular position for more than 10 min. My legs get numb not having issue when sitting or laying when legs presses they get numb.

Physical therapy, TENS application to stimulate nerves and prevent muscles wasting by physiotherapist may help.
See a neurologist if he can add methycobalamin tabs and other medications. Periodical serum prothrombin time must be done if taking anticoagulant treatment for modifying doses.

My Dad, 51 years old, is left with very less sensation and muscle power below his knee in the right leg after getting treatment for Deep Vein Thrombosis. He is unable to lift his feet especially the toes and can’t put pressure on it. The current doctor advised that the he needs to take anti coagulants for a long time and there cannot be any more healing of the leg, however I am much optimistic. The muscles below his knee on the back side are very weak and pressing on those muscles makes a pins and needle sensation on toes and below the feet. The clots are also still there, however small. Now he is only taking Pradaxa and folic acid. There is no improvement in his leg condition, he is not able to walk without the foot splint and it is impossible to drive or even walk fast, climb etc. I am very worried and thus searching for a second opinions and any alternative treatment or medicine which can help his condition History of DVT - It started with pain in his left leg two years ago in July 2014 and it got well in around 9 days. After that Doppler test was taken which suggested clotting. After some days excruciating pain started in the right leg through the hip side which shifted to front of the right leg, the whole leg blackened due to clotting. He was rushed to emergency where doctor stabilized him and gave him Acitrom. There was huge blood loss and his veins became very weak. He got referred to a neurologist where NCV test was done along with whole body test. He was prescribed Pradaxa tab. After this there was no movement and sensation below right ankle. The doctor asked him to wear a foot drop splint along with physiotherapy sessions. It would be great help if you can advise on a prognosis or about a treatment if there is one. If you think his condition can be helped I would surely bring my father to the place of your practice. I won't to him to heal and get better not just taking medicines to curb the condition.

Hi. First of all I would like to know if he underwent any surgery for limb blackening. What I can understand is that he developed acute DVT which resulted in compartment syndrome and blackening. This condition may have resulted in ischaemic neuropathy and myopathy. That's y he is having weakness. It's difficult to say whether normal movement and sensations of the affected limb will restore completely. Treatment given is ok. No prob. You need to have patience and wait. Physiotherapy may help.
