We live in a society where fair skin is considered a valued trait of beauty. But genetic predisposition and poor lifestyle choices can often cause unwarranted skin darkening and localized pigmentation. These skin changes are mainly caused due to excessive melanin production. This skin darkening can also be a result of various factors such as overexposure to sun, damage due to chemical exposure, hormonal changes and even side effects of certain diseases.

Dear Lybrate user,
dark elbow is a natural thing as the skin in surrounding area is elastic in nature.
Though this darkness can be reduced with very simple tricks.
Do remember it works with continuous long term use (2 months).
Use 1 part multani mitti+ 1 part of powder of sweet Bengal gram (besan or chana dal atta)+1 spoon haldi for scrubbing on elbows with water for 5 mins.
Feel free to consult privately for further information.
Thank you.

When the melanin producing cells are damaged due to long exposure to sunlight, pregnancy or any other disease, pigmentation of the skin takes place. When the skin gets darker, it is called hyperpigmentation a...more

Hi lybrate-user,
I would also recommend you for glowing skin use a apple, Apple has alpha hydroxy acid. It improves skin color and elasticity. Soak peeled apple slices in milk for 20 minutes and then blend to form a creamy paste, and then mix a tsp of lemon juice, apply all over your face. Rinse off after 15 minutes with cool water.
Or
You can also mash a banana and blend it with honey and apply it on your face. Wash it with lukewarm water after 15 minutes.
Drink enough water. Ci...more
