Blood tests: alpha-fetoprotein (afp), which may be elevated in 70% of patients with liver cancer. Afp levels could be normal in liver cancer. A rising level of afp is suspicious for liver cancer. The afp may be elevated with cirrhosis and chronic active hepatitis.

Acute hep b has no treatment only follow up. Chronic hep b treatment depends on HBeAg levels, hbv DNA levels, liver status. You will have to discuss with a gastroenterologist for it.

In any blood test positive means the test is positive or the disease ispresent. If hsag is is positive it means, the person has hepatitis b infection and negative hbe means the disease is not active at present and he had an infection in the past hbsag is the hepatitis b surface antigen. Hbeag is the envelope antigen. Presence of surface antigen signifies the presence of intact virus in the circulation. Envelope antigen may or may not be produced by an intact virus.
