“Your ovaries and your fat cells regulate estrogen, which affects ovulation. If you’re too thin, you may not be producing enough estrogen, and if you’re overweight or obese, you may be producing too much,”.

Nutrition is a key component of reproduction and pregnancy. Reproductive organs need to be healthy to initiate and maintain a pregnancy to full term. There is a constant requirement for nutrients at each stage of reproduction and the best source of these nutrients is from food. Supplementation can be useful if meeting these nutrients requirements is compromised in any way.

What to eat to make you more fertile?

For a fertility, diet to improve egg quality, load your plate with fruits & veggies. As per few studies, there is higher incidence of ovulation disorder in women who consume more of trans fats, carbs & animal protein.  Watermelon & asparagus, along with other fruits & vegetables give body a rich supply of glutathione, which is important for egg quality.

How can I boost my fertility?

Fresh vegetable juices and fruit juices contain phytochemicals which are beneficial for fertility. Taking plant-based fats & proteins in moderation is healthy in couples with fertility concerns. Bad carbs like cookies, cakes, white bread, and white rice should be avoided. Good carbs like containing fiber such as fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains can be taken.

Cutting back on gluten may be necessary for some suffering from PCOS. As gluten create an inflammatory response in body which heightens C-reactive protein & send signals that it's not an ideal time to conceive. It makes ovulation inhibited and implantation more difficult.

If you’re having continued trouble conceiving, you need to consider limiting dairy.

For men – More veggies and fruit for him too. Foods rich in zinc is helpful. Encourage him to take daily vitamins especially vitamin C, E, Selenium, Zinc & Lycopene.
