take antihypertensive drug whatever u r taking.
and fallow these managing factors-
smoking &alcohal should be stopped.
stop taking high calorie food[which contains carbohydrate,fat etc],avoid junk .
rreduce salt in ur diet[don't take more than 5grms/day]
do exercises&morning walk.
avoid mental stress.share urself with ur friends &family members.
try to be happy.
avoid late night sleeping habit.

Yes some women do give up on life at 60 plus. Do tell her that women get a new life after menopause. Regarding diabetes, there are plenty like her showing good control with diet and medicine.
