take syrup asthalin ax 2tsp bd alex cough lozenge ,suck one every 3-4 hr ×5 days
don't take too much antibiotics
gargle salt water and steam inhalation
avoid cold beverages
drink hot liquids and honey+lemon warm water

2. Take bath with little warm water 3. Do steam inhalation regularly at least once a day
4. Warm salt water gargles daily 5 no cold water / cold drinks / ice creams and so on
6. No smoking/ avoid pollution 7. Wash hands after use of bath room and before and after eating food.

causes of chronic dry cough can be due to lung causes like infections, pleural causes like effusions etc. or upper respiratory causes like sinusitis, throath infections, post nasal drip and other causes like allergic bronchitis or rhinitis.
or GERD.
WE need to rule out other causes and treat the cause of dry cough for relief.

What are other symptoms that he is having like fever, vomiting, pain etc. also when he feels breathlessness. When walking or when coughing it at rest also. By doing what his problem increases. In this age thus cough can be a simple cough like we all have when season changes or it can be because of infection if lungs or heart problem. Do u need to give exact details of his problem. In the meanwhile do this
