Hello , please follow the doctor prescribed medicine. Which controls the diabetics and will not allow you increase. But along with medication, you need to concentrate on food also. Make sure you food must have high protein, fiber and omega-3 nutrition. Weight loss in diabetes usually signifies uncontrolled diabetes. He probably needs to change/or adjust his anti diabetic medicine dosages he may improve faster with short course of insulin therapy (if he is not taking). Some times associated illness like hyperthyroidism, tuberculosis, hiv, cancer could also be responsible for weight loss. The tablet prescribed is often used in diabetes patients as a supportive therapy. It is quite safe for such patients. Most important aspect of weakness in a diabetic patient is usually the uncontrolled glucose levels, plus improper nutrition and no physical activity. the main problem is obesity bcoz bmi is around 30. Your father fasting sugar is bit high but don't worry about it. I have some suggestions:-
first, we have some good drugs for better control of blood sugar. The medicine you are on will not be sufficient.
Second, we can suggest exercise and medical nutrition therapy for diabetes.
Third, weight reduction of about 5 to 7 kg over a period of 6 to 9 months will help alot.
Fourth, plan for hba1c, serum creatinine, lft & ...more
