High cholesterol can lead to blockages in major blood vessels supplying heart, brain, kidney, gut, legs etc. Blockages in these leads to reduced blood supply to the affected part and can cause related problems. Hypothyroidism if not well controlled, does affect menstruation. Periods can be irregular, can be scanty or at times there may be heavy bleeding too.
It also affects ovulation, hence it may be difficult get pregnant. Further even if pregnancy does occur, due to high TSH (inadequate Thyroxine) there is a definite affection to brain development. Plus fetal growth is also affected. Further pregnancy outcome can be bad.

Nothing can be done beyond the necessary treatment which is going on in the NICU. You have to wait and whatever the treatment is going on now let it to be continued and save the child first. Regarding brain development if the child survives you can think later on but nothing can be done right now.
