The pain may be due to the reason that the cavity is near to close the pulp or nerve of the tooth, see the dentist again as that tooth may need a root canal filling.

Most probably the filling is broken and lodged in gum due to occlusal/ chewing forces. If so, it has to be filled again and gum will heal once broken material is removed, you can try among orasore gel, rexidine m forte gel, dentogel, dologel CT etc whatever is prescribed by your dentist at that time. If filling breaks again and again, ask for capping as a Permanent solution.

Usually composite fillings are hard. U just take care while brushing without applying too much pressure at that area.

If your cavity is deep. Glass ionomer filling is good.
For mild cavity composite is good.
Both are tooth color fillings.
