It is better to get your son admitted for proper observation. Platelet count do not fall on day 2 of dengue. They fall once the fever settles.
Even if you do not want your son to get admitted, take proper care at home. Maintain hydration and give plenty of oral fluids.

If platelet count is decreasing then visit nearby hospital. Maintain hydration. Patient with less platelet count may have gum bleeding. So observe pt. & do the platelet count everyday till it starts increasing.
