It's advisable to find out cause of cirrhosis. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Get periodically lft and screening of Liver for any tumor (CT or ultrasound with AFP)

There is no hereditary cause for cirrhosis but yes there are few causes of liver disease which are familial and must be evaluated prior to reaching the stage of cirrhosis.
