1. usually antiviral medications are not required .
2. hope adults in your home all had chicken pox at one time , if not , STAY AWAY, chicken pox in adults is more severe than chicken pox in children
3. use warm soaks /oatmeal baths for relief
4. avoid ASPIRIN
5. cut childs nails short or use a cotton glove/mitten
6.dont use lactocalamine lotion for itching
7.if itching is severe ,oral antihistamines can be given,consult for names .

Hello, the scar marks from chicken pox can remain for a long time before disappearing by it's own. Even with treatment they may take months to go away. I would suggest you to keep your skin moisturized well and use sun protection when you go out. And for local application you can apply calamine lotion over the scar area. a chickenpox patient is considered contagious untill all the lesions (sores) have dried up, so you may still infect your husband if he comes in contact or close proximity to you.
However, if your husband had chickenpox before or is vaccinated against chicken pox then you may come in close contact with your husband.
