1. usually antiviral medications are not required . 2. hope adults in your home all had chicken pox at one time , if not , STAY AWAY, chicken pox in adults is more severe than chicken pox in children 3. use warm soaks /oatmeal baths for relief 4. avoid ASPIRIN 5. cut childs nails short or use a cotton glove/mitten 6.dont use lactocalamine lotion for itching 7.if itching is severe ,oral antihistamines can be given,consult for names . 8. oral antiviral acyclovir can be given four times a day, dose calculated based on body weight . 9.Suspect secondary infection if systemic manifestations do not improve in 3-4 days, the fever returns or worsens, or the child?s condition deteriorates after initial improvement.
