Chemotherapy Questions

It's a grade 3 tumour with size more than 3 cm. If mastectomy done and no lymph nodes positive patient does not need radiotherapy. However triple negative are aggressive cancers and for these chemotherapy is a must for any tumour greater than 0.5cm in size. You should complete all the prescribed doses of chemotherapy and be on regular follow up. That gives a best chance for cure/control.

Avoid spicy and dried food. It will difficult to swallow dry and spicy food due to radiotherapy and cancer throat

There is no study as such which can help kill cancer cells by using fruits. It's better to go according to the proven line of management. Chemotherapy in colon cancer is usually very effective.

Dear sir, post breast surgery, depending on histopathology reports, size and hormone receptor status, chemotherapy is decided. For breast no oral chemotherapy is done, however if she is hormone receptor positive, hormonal therapy may be done as a systemic treatment, but detailed histopathology reports are required to decide about further treatment, so please share.

It depends on the general condition of the patient. Also stage 4 means usually palliation, so the intention is not cure, but a reasonable quality of life and if possible disease control. May be palliative chemotherapy if patient can tolerate and palliative radiation if the patient has painful bone metastasis or brain metastasis.

Though it's not the chronological age but general condition that is more important but definitely my opinion would be that treatment should be directed to enhance quality of life, the intent of treatment may be palliative. This could be either'phimosis' or'paraphimosis' . If it is very troublesome, a small surgical procedure to release it may be helpful.

Tamoxifen is known to have a small risk of uterus cancer (endometrial cancer) and not cervical cancer. That's why you need to follow up with regular pelvic scans. But if she is post menopause she can be given different medicines. Can contact oncologist for details.

Tamoxifen theoretically increases the risk of endometrial cancer and not cervical cancer. Hence you have to do a 6 monthly usg abdomen to measure endometrial thickness. If it increases beyond a certain limit, tamoxifen will be stopped and other endocrine therapy may be started. However risk is small and the advantage of tamoxifen outweigh the risks.

For a gall bladder cancer which has been found accidentally on the choloecystectomy surgery, we need to do a repeat ct/mri to see for any residual disease. After this, we need to do a repeat surgery where we remove some part of the liver and the lymph nodes which are around that area. We send all this for pathology check up and based on this report, the final stage of the disease is decided. Based on this the further chemotherapy is planned.
