8 months old can eat semi solid foods. But do not feed all the food items at one time. The child becomes confused of the taste and does not want to eat when he is 2 years old. The lunch should be with the family so that the child knows how to eat. Feed him 1) boiled rice and milk with little gur or sugar, 2) dal and rice khichri with green vegetables and carrots ,add a little butter 3) 1 boiled egg yolk and rice 4) veg soup and rice 5) suji kheer. first 5-6 months exclusive breast feeds. then continue breast and add cereal/curd porridge,very thin half cup,to be given by spoon or clean fingers. By nine child can eat bread in milk or dal water,gradually child like to eat himself,allow him to drink,eat spoil the food. best is a year old child sit on dining table , separate plate and spoil eat himself. he will learn fast least psych. complaint.

Protein is available in milk curd paneer eggs hence you should not worry for it. Mainly is calories. You should give 125gms cereals a day divided in six feeds.

it's very important question and good no. Of young mothers are concerned about it.In fact at six months child should have a change. He start picking up things from floor and put it in mouth. Mother feels that her breast milk has gone down.

There are no fixed quantities of feeds. It depends on child`s appetite. Adopt demand schedule. Regular monitoring of weight is important. Consult me for any clarification.

It is advisable to wean after 6 months now a days but it can be started now with semi solids like dal daliya khichadi suji kheer etc 1 item once in a day for few days n gradually changing to other items. Continue breastfeeding and start dairy milk with spoon once in a day.

Feed offered three hrly six times between six am to elevan pm. Four times breast feeds for 15-20 min. No other milk. Two to three feeds of cereals and milk /curd. Homely feeds freshly prepared each time are recommended.
