Hi Dear lybrate-user, its too early to say that baby has hearing loss, cause since your baby is preterm and may be because of neuro-maturational delay, sometimes BERA tests are not reliable. So wait for some time and get it repeated again. In the mean time you can get Oto-Acoustic Emission (OAE) test done, which gives the information about Outer Hair Cells (OHC) function in the Inner Ear. Thanks.

When did the trauma happen to the ear (slap). Are you diagnosed to have conductive deafness or mixed hearing loss. Is your other ear normal? If you are surgically unfit you may consider hearing aid as an option. Economy class BTE hearing aids are affordable and cost below 10000rs.
