Giving up will appear very difficult but it really not so. It is a decision that has to be made and under the right circumstances, you will win this battle. Since you are trying to stop I assume you know all the ill-effects of smoking. When you decide, it must be done immediately and abruptly. Waiting another day will jeopardize the decision. Since you want to do it I recommend that you seek the help of a counselor and do it with support. You need to identify with why you smoke: there is an oral...more

Hi there ~
there are many ways in which one might want to quit smoking. Primarily if you are smoking only 8 cigarettes per day I would suggest that you fix a quit date on which you will be smoking no cigarettes at all and you may have to decrease smoking by cutting down on one cigarettes every 2-3 days or so, such that you reach your goal of no cigarettes by the quit date. I hope this helps. Although there are medications to help quit

Will power is the key to quit smoking.
Chewing an elaichi (cardamom) or laung (clove) when you are craving always helps.
Also there are many nicotine replacement methods in the market (not only chewing gum). All these should be used under supervision of the doctor.
