Hello, Thanks for the query. Since there is no mention of actual blood glucose levels and HbA1c%, there is no way to know how well is your diabetes controlled. So I can hardly comment. As regards high BP there are multiple drugs available to control it. Your local doctor can give you the best advice. Thanks.

Within how much time a non diabetic person injected with heavy dosage of insulin should be treated before it becomes fatal. From internet I saw a person with weight 79 kgs injected 1500 units of lantus was treated and was back to normal. But within what time the treatment started for him wasn't mentioned for not becoming it fatal. So can someone please clarify me.

Urgent treatment with intravenous glucose and glucagon injections can control severe hypoglycemia. In case of lantus (glargine) basal insulin action lasts for 24 hrs and starts after 2 -4 hrs. So we can prevent severe hypoglycemia if we start glucose infusion within 2 hrs and maintained for 24 hrs. Different insulin have diff actions.

Hello Sir, according to your fasting blood glucose you are in the Pre-diabetes range. You can bring your blood glucose to Non- diabetic range by following a good healthy diet and exercise. Plan: 1) Eat plenty of vegetables, whole grains, pulses, milk, fruits. Avoid fatty food and sugary stuff. You can treat yourself to these high calorie stuff once a week so that you derive some pleasure in eating. But watch your portion sizes (ie instead of big slice of cake eat a smaller one) 2) exercise at least 30-45 min daily - walking, jogging, cycling etc. Start slow and gradually increase the duration and intensity. 3) By doing 1) and 2) above you can lose weight. Your ideal weight is around 67 kg. This will also help your blood glucose to come under control. 4) Check your fasting and post prandial blood glucose in 3-6 months. Hope this helps you. Thank you.

Why do people with diabetes suffer hypoglycemia when intake is a bit delayed from the routine regular time?

Why do people with diabetes suffer hypoglycemia when intake is a bit delayed from the routine regular time?
Patients with Diabetes are taking medicines for lowering their blood sugar - these medicines have preset time of action- they don't start working when they eat food but they start working when they take medicine. Hence, the action of taking food and medicine has to be synchronised by the patient by his intelligence and guidance. otherwise, the medicine will cause hypoglycaemia.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. For checking blood glucose presently it has to be done with either a glucometer or in a clinical laboratory. So far there are no "mobile apps" developed. What you get are all pranks. Hence can not be relied at all. Doctors and labs are available every where in the country. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. You have diabetes, hence it is necessary to initiate appropriate treatment with modern drugs. Plus exercise for over 1 hour every day and diet control also are needed. Avoid sweets, junk foods, deep fried foods, pastries, colas, bakery items and foods made from maida. Increase consumption of green leafy vegetables & salads. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism is a condition where thyroid gland is not producing enough quantity of the hormone thyroxine. Therefore only treatment is to replace that hormone from outside and that too for ones whole life. There is no other treatment.
