It seems to be case of night terrors inwhich child loses the control in night occasionally. Paediatrician will be able to guide you appropriately after a initial evaluation. You need no to worry. It is not something serious.

Cough after cold is usually due to post viral infection. Treatment depends on chest (lungs) condition. If there is wheeze in chest, theophylline may be given after consulting pediatrician.

Hi doctor, I have 3 year old son. I am giving him vitamin d syrup (1ml/day, uprise d3, 400iu/per day) supplement since 6 months. There is no sun light exposure for him as you know in apartment culture getting sunlight is very difficult. Will it have any side effect? Thanks.

If you do not exceed the recommended daily allowance there is no problem. Excess vit d can lead to toxicity. Check his blood cbc and tft. Send me reports also do serum vitamin d level if you want.

Dear lybrate-user, I hope that you are still feeding your baby with your breastmilk. After the baby is six months of age, along with breast milk, please add well mashed boiled vegetables, fruits like banana and cereals like rice and dalia. Start with one item and 4/5 tsf of food and increase the quantity as accepted. Number of feeds can be increased every week till the baby is taking 3 big meals of half of a 200 to 250 ml bowl. By 7 to 8 months of ageDo not add sugar or salt to the food. It is preferable and healthier to give freshly cooked home food rather than use processed tinned food sold ready to use. By the time the baby is 10 to 12 months he can eat all food that the family eats provided it is evenly mashed and soft as baby's grinding teeth have not yet erupted. HAPPY FEEDING!

With so many symptoms it is better to show a neuro pediatrician at least once. And have to talk frankly about long term effect of it. Schooling, mental behaviour is also to be talked out. Need not to be visit frequently to other Dr. Once you are satisfied.

Nght time crying and morning sleep normal phenomenon for baby as in womb so she will take time to adapt to new environment. She does not need any medication for that. You can use pediculoryl thts safest drug fr sedation in babies but try not using it daily.

Avoid repeated forward bending, avoid weight lifting, do not sleep straight, better sleep side wise and knee should be bent back side.

Just remember to make a note of milestone for the baby and also take notes of the physical activity and weight also depends on the previous record on his birth day and if there are restricted activities than we have to think about the cause of weight gain.

4 Myths and Facts About Asthma You Should be Aware of

MBBS, MD -Pulmonary Medicine-Tuberculosis ,Respiratory Disease Medicine , Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD), European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine
Pulmonologist, Delhi
4 Myths and Facts About Asthma You Should be Aware of

On the occasion of World Asthma Day (3rd May, 2016), I would like to break a few myths related around Asthma which otherwise people generally believe to be true.

Myth #1 -  Asthma is a communicable disease

Fact #1 -  Asthma is an allergic disease and is neither contagious (infectious) or communicable (passed on from one person to another)

Myth #2 - Inhalers are addictive

Fact #2 - Absolutely wrong! Inhalers are not addictive but it is a good habit to keep control over asthma and use your inhalers as prescribed by your doctor. Also, contrary to popular belief that using inhalers on a regular basis reduces their effectiveness, inhalers continue to be equally effective on a regular basis.

Myth #3 - Inhalers are expensive

Fact #3 - Again, absolutely incorrect! Inhalers are in fact cheaper when compared to other drugs.

Myth #4 - Inhalers are given to patients who face Chronic Asthma

Fact #4 - Wrong! Inhalers should be used from a very early stage itself to prevent progression of the disease.

I hope this tip helped bust atleast a few notions that most people have about Asthma and that you are now better informed about this condition. In case you would like to ask me anything or discuss your or your loved one's case in detail, feel free to 'Consult' privately with me.

It appears if your son is suffering from asthma. For acute illness, hospitalization becomes necessary. You may add vit. A 60.000 units daily for a week which may reduce severity of illness.
