My dad is 64 years old and has got 70% and 100% blockage. In another 10 days he is going under bypass surgery as per the discussion with the doctor. He is not feeling any chest pain, shortness of breath or anything. Doc has given tablets to control further blockage. I read in some articles that 100% blockage is severe hence I am very scared. Pls let us know in this 10 days duration is there any risk? He has to follow any diet or yoga?

The seriousness and urgency depends on which artery is 100% blocked, but generally medications can help keep the patient stable till the procedure can be performed, so no need to panic. Discuss with your cardiologist about SOS medication to take in case of chest pain and keep it handy. And avoid too much physical and emotional exertion like yoga or walks till the procedure. You can always discuss the options of stenting with your cardiologist, if the surgery is talking longer.

Is it true that hot / short tempered people are at high risk of getting and having high blood pressure? Or is it just temporary (at the moment that you are angry)? Can you explain the basis of this? What's the best advice to someone who has short temper. How to curb it?

Hot temper could be one of the reasons for high bp but not the only one. With high negative emotionality like anger, stress and sadness, the circulatory, muscular, nervous and digestive system face continuous pressure to help dissipate the excess energy build up. Hence, the immune system gets compromised often and the person is open to falling ill often. 2. The person might also behave without thinking through his actions and may end up doing something that they regret later. 3. They are more susceptible to consuming drugs and alcohol as their immediate coping mechanism to relieve the stress that they are unable to face otherwise. 4. Anger held for long term can lead to rage converted into antisocial behavior leading to social adjustment issues and self esteem issues. Depression is another outcome of anger turned inwards or outwards. It is best to learn how to tame your anger and use it to articulate what you are experiencing or wanting from the other person. Assertive communication and" self and other" awareness are some of the best tools to manage anger.

Bad breath can be due- *Infections in gums, teeth or oral mucus of the mouth. * Sinusitis, nose block and tonsillitis will also cause this problem. *Dryness of mouth * If the teeth are crooked, ulcers may be caused and food particles may get stuck causing infection. *Eating and digestive disorders. *Dental plaque * Taking some medicines for other diseases. Taking care of your oral hygiene- •Use proper tooth brush and fluoride based tooth paste. Tongue cleaning is also very important. •Gargling your mouth after eating any food. •Avoid tobacco and smelly masala foods. •Treat underlying medical conditions •Crooked teeth to be corrected by braces at early age. Drink plenty of water and avoid dryness of mouth. **Homoeopathy has good treatment for your problem, without causing adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine Merc sol 30 twice daily in the morning and in the evening and give feedback after 6 days.

Hello, the best way of releasing the mental stress/ tension is through exercises (sp. Yoga and meditation) which increases your blood circulation, boosts up oxygen in each and every tissue of the body. But as you have high b. P, consult and do the exercises under a qualified instructor/ yoga-teacher only. Medication: take homoeopathic medicines - bacopa monierri q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice daily and kali phos. 6x/ once at night. Take them for 20 days. Revert me back. Stress can make mental health problems worse.

Many people have no symptoms in the early stages of avascular necrosis. As the condition worsens, your affected joint may hurt only when you put weight on it. Eventually, the joint may hurt even when you're lying down. Pain can be mild or severe and usually develops gradually. Pain associated with avascular necrosis of the hip may be focused in the groin, thigh or buttock. In addition to the hip, the areas likely to be affected are the shoulder, knee, hand and foot. You should consult a neurologist for for the proper treatment of clot in the brain.

If blood pressure is not controlled after taking three or more drugs then it may be matter of concern. You should follow lifestyle measures rigorously to complement medicine. Loosing some extra kilos also part of it. Ask your docor to look for any missing factors like kidney problem or painkiller use etc.

I am facing pain in my chest portion and pain in my hands also having gastric. Is this any cause of heart attack.

MBBS, MD - General Medicine

I am facing pain in my chest portion and pain in my hands
also having gastric.
Is this any cause of heart attack.
Hello Dear there's is cardiac and non cardiac chest pain. Cardiac chest pain is origin from heart as you know in myocardial infraction or stable or unstable angina or from pericardium. Non cardiac chest pain origin from lung like pleuritic, from muscle like muscle spasm ,from intercostal nerve like nerve root compression or herpes zoster, from esophagus like GERD or diffuse esophageal spasm, from stomach like gastritis. From cervical spondylosis may also cause chest pain due to nerve compression. I think you may be suffering from non cardiac chest pain may be be originating from cervical spondylosis or due to acid reflux disease. So first you need to consult your doctor to confirm that the pain is not originating from heart by ECG. Then your doctor treat you non cardiac pain accordingly. I think I answered to your question if you have more questions feel free to ask. Take care.
