Hi doctor every month I face bowel problems especially loose motion it occurs often. Give some tips for ibs & ulcerative colitis patients. What diet pattern they have to follow.

M. sc Psychology, BHMS
Homeopath, Hyderabad
For ibs, there are good homeopathic remedies +that will help u, but according to symptoms only. But regarding diet wise, you should always prefer the bland diet, n hav to avoid the items which will aggravate your c/o. Though it is your favourite dish. Take plenty of water. Minimum 3-4 litres/day. Daily taking soaked fenugreek seeds [minimum 8-10] in morning, with empty stomach will help to reduce the problem to some extent. Take fruits, juices, vegetables, its always better to avoid spicy, oily, outside, fast food in general also, but more for the people like u.

Here are some home remedies to cure acidity.  - Skip the aerated drinks as well as the caffeine. Opt for herbal tea instead.  - Have a glass of lukewarm water everyday.  - Include banana, watermelon and cucumber in your daily diet. Watermelon juice is great for curing acidity.  - Nariyal paani is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity.  - Drink a glass of milk - everyday.  - Have your last meal at least two to three hours before you hit the sack.  - Keeping long intervals between meals is another cause for acidity. Have small but regular meals.  - Try to avoid pickles, spicy chutneys, vinegar, etc.  - Boil some mint leaves in water and have a glass of this after meals.

Hi, Without proper examination cannot help you. It is better to consult your regular gynecologist. And one thing. Is stress makes it more difficult to conceive. So just try to relax and try to be happy. I know it is not easy. But you have to put your mind to other pleasurable things. Watch funny movies. Enjoy time with your partner. Go out. And visit the places you like. Smile more. It helps a lot. You cannot even imagine. Laughing more regulates your hormonal system. It is scientific and not some hokum.

Which season is best for gall bladder removal surgery? My mother has Stone of 25 mm. Please advise
hello mam. surgery of gall bladder does not depend on any season . other factors like symptoms/stone size/ age are more important. stone size is big . she requires surgery, get it done soon as complications and infection due to stone are more severe in older age group.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Causes and Symptoms

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder of the large intestine. It may cause abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea and constipation. The condition is not life threatening in nature and does not make you susceptible to colon disorders such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and colon cancer, however, symptoms of IBS may act as deterrents in leading a normal life.

Symptoms:
The symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome are:

  1. You may experience symptoms of constipation
  2. Frequent episodes of diarrhea
  3. Abdominal cramps especially on the lower part of the abdomen
  4. Constant bloating
  5. Abnormal stool structure
  6. You belly might stick out

In some cases, you may experience sexual problems and urinary problems. In addition, if you also suffer from stress related disorders then it might aggravate the symptoms.

Causes:
The primary cause is that the colon becomes very sensitive such that small stimulation may cause it to react. When the food passes through the colon, it tends contract strongly and leads to complications, such as bloating and constipation. It may also lead to weak contractions of the colon which leads to hardened stool.
There are certain things which may symptoms of IBS, they are:

  1. Stress: Any type of stress tends to aggravate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
  2. Foods: Certain foods such as chocolate, spices, cabbage, milk and carbonated beverages may trigger symptoms of IBS.
  3. Hormones: Hormonal changes such as the ones during menstrual cycles may aggravate symptoms of IBS.
  4. Illnesses: Various illnesses such as diarrhea or conditions such as overproduction of bacteria in the intestines may lead to symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Women are more likely to be affected by symptoms of IBS as are people who are below 45 years of age. If someone in your family has irritable bowel syndrome, then you are also likely to develop this disorder. It may also aggravate symptoms of hemorrhoids, along with aggravating symptoms of stress. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a gastroenterologist.
