What is creatine supplement? How to use if it is safe? I heart a lot about it from athletes. please explain I do work...
Creatine is a natural substance that turns into creatine phosphate in the body. Creatine phosphate helps make a substance called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP provides the energy for muscle contractions. The body produces some of the creatine it uses. It also comes from protein-rich foods such as meat or fish.Taking it is associated with side effects

High Blood Pressure - Control it by Eating Right

High Blood Pressure - Control it by Eating Right

Health experts do believe and are promoting the same nowadays, that eating right is the best step to control high blood pressure other than regular medications. Who knows, if you are strong enough to control your lifestyle and eating habits, you may not need a long term medication after some time. The blood pressure may lower down naturally with improving health and weight.

Factors that elevate blood pressure in the body.

Before suggesting the right eatables for lowering the blood pressure, let’s look at the conditions which actually increase the blood pressure. They are:

  1. A coronary heart disease
  2. Stress
  3. Anxiety
  4. Work pressure or family and relationship troubles
  5. Obesity
  6. Cholesterol
  7. Other medical conditions like diabetes, depression, etc.
  8. Pregnancy

Each one has a toll on the body with resultant High Blood Pressure. With eating right you may gain a lot of control on the body.

Eating Right

Here are some quick tips on eating right:

  1. Avoid excess salt intake. The more salt you take, the more sodium your body gets, and as a result BP elevates. When you eat readymade snacks, packaged foods and drinks with preservatives, check the nutritional information. Most of them contain high sodium. You may stop the intake of such foods or restrict them completely.

  2. Avoid oily and junk food. Avoid food with unsaturated or trans fats. These kinds of foods straightaway add to the fat deposits of the body, and make you obese or more obese. In such cases, the obesity and increased weight build a pressure on the heart to pump more, thus elevating blood pressure.

  3. Avoid excess caffeine. Caffeine comes in the body through coffee, tea, and aerated drinks. These beverages when restricted to only 1-2 intakes per day may help you lower the BP.

  4. Quit smoking, as this puts excess pressure on the lungs to breathe and thus the heart to pump.

  5. Reduce alcohol intake: Avoid alcohol intake in excess amounts. Drinking more alcohol or frequent drinking can elevate blood pressure.

Besides there are some good foods that can always help to lower or control BP. They are:

  1. Plain, fat-free yogurt or Greek yogurt
  2. White beans
  3. Pork tenderloins
  4. Small fishes like Tilapia
  5. Bananas
  6. Oats
  7. Broccoli
  8. Bell Peppers

These food items are designed by nature to reduce blood pressure or normalize blood pressure in the body. Hence, if you are trying heart and soul to eat right, then try these in your daily food to see positive results. Besides, exercising and reducing weight are the two other important steps to take, which complement the healthy diet and eating habits to lower the blood pressure with or without medication. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a cardiologist.

Dietary and other lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure. Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm hg. This eating plan is known as the dietary approaches to stop hypertension (dash) diet. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. If you're overweight, losing even 3 kgs can lower your blood pressure. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

How can I control lifestyle diseases like blood pressure, cholesterol & diabetes?
Mr. Lybrate-user, as you have stated these are called" lifestyle" diseases, meaning if we adapt a more positive and healthy lifestyle, these can be prevented. A healthy lifestyle means: exercising regularly, (everyday of the week, at least 1 hour), maintaining near normal weight, maintaining a bmi of 23 kgs/m2, refraining from alcohol, smoking, high fat foods, bakery items, pastries, aerated sweetened drinks, red meat, egg yolk etc. Also controlling excess salt intake. This kind of lifestyle is helpful in keeping those conditions mentioned by you.

How do I control my blood pressure which rises all of sudden when things goes wrong?

How do I control my blood pressure which rises all of sudden when things goes wrong?
Hi. Blood pressure does not remain constant all the times. It changes as per your bodies requirement. So when you are anxious, angry of worried, your body shows response by increasing your heart rate and bp. This is an absolutely proper response. Bp problem is when your bp remains high even if you are calm and sitting resting. Take care.

Hi all your tests are normal except there is vitamin d insufficiency. The sun's rays provide warmth and light that enhance your general feeling of well-being and stimulate blood circulation. Some uv radiation is essential to the body as it stimulates the production of vitamin d. Vitamin d has an important function in increasing calcium and phosphorus absorption from food and plays a crucial role in skeletal development, immune function and blood cell formation. There is no doubt that a little sunlight is good for you! but 5 to 15 minutes of casual sun exposure of hands, face and arms two to three times a week during the summer months is sufficient to keep your vitamin d levels high. Closer to the equator, where uv levels are higher, even shorter periods of exposure suffice. Hence, for most people, vitamin d deficiency is unlikely. Possible exceptions are those who have very limited sun exposure such as the housebound elderly, or those with heavily pigmented skin who live in high-latitude countries where uv levels are relatively low. Recognising the need for vitamin d, many countries have introduced supplements into common food like flour, cereals and milk. Naturally occurring vitamin d is very rare in our diet, it is present mainly in fatty fish and cod liver oil.

Near the Diaphragm middle of blew the chest I feel pain during sneezing, whopping and fast breathing sometimes.
Most likely this is pain from rib junctions with the sternum bone in the midline, and may be due to some heavy exertion in last few days or some pressure on the area of chest. It should disappear spontaneously in a day or two. Otherwise a clinical examination may be of help to fibd the exact position.

If you want to get rid off this problem naturally, I suggest him to do regular exercises, yoga, pranayamas, regularly.& tell him to quit those smoking alcohol consumption, though less frequently it is. Taking more water, daily minimum 3-4 litres irrespective of his thirst, consuming more raw vegetables,[whatever he can eat. Like carrots, beet roots, lady's fingers, keera etc], fresh all seasonal fruits, sprouts will help keeping general health, take daily 1 glass of lemon juice mixed with honey. 1-2 times/ day. Don't take pickles, spicy, junk, oily, fast food, which will take up to risk of increasing the bad cholesterol levels. Taking 1 litre of water in morning with empty stomach will help maximum to keep all vital organs function well.
