My weight continuously gone high please help me I am having a limited number of meal but I am gaining weight what can I do?

Your weight is controlled by 4 major factors (1) refined sugar consumption (2) exercise and hydration (3) posture and sitting (4) how many times do you indulge yourself - alcohol, binge eating at parties, overeating etc. Step 01: refined sugar 1. Avoid all snacks and commercial products with sugar in them - biscuits, cakes, bournvita, horlicks, coke, pepsi, energy drinks, sweetened yogurt etc. 2. Cut down on your daily intake of tea/coffee and maintain it at 3-4 cups a day. 3. Try to add little sugar to any beverage (coffee, tea, milk, lemon water etc.) that you have and ideally you should refrain from adding any sugar altogether. Step 02: get exercise and proper hydration 1. Try to work out for 20 minutes each day. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can incorporate some pretty powerful exercises in your daily routine like - squats, skipping, surya namaskar and core exercises. 2. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday but remember that tea/coffee are not substitutes for pure water. Step 03: improve posture and sitting habits if you have a sitting job then ensure that you do not sit for more than 30 minutes at one stretch. Get up and move a little after every 30 minutes. Step 04: stop indulging and eat more of raw natural stuff 1. No more than 60 ml of hard liqour or 2 glasses of beer per day. 2. Try to eliminate the urge to overeat but if you do overeat try to limit the incidents to two times per week. 3. Eat 4 servings of fruits per day. 4. Each of your meal should contain 50% of raw vegetables. Once you incorporate the above points in your routine you will see a dramatic difference in your weight, physical shape and energy levels. You will find that there are a lot of companies out there that are trying to sell expensive products to naive consumers in the name of weight loss. These products may not necessarily be good for you. Losing and maintaining weight is something which is totally in your hands, it is easy and it is free of cost if you follow the above mentioned points.

Gradual weight gain is always advisable. An increase in 500 kcal per day can result in increasing the body weight by 0.5 kgs per week. You need a balanced diet more. You need the right amount of protein, carbs and fats. Help yourself to nuts and dairy products. Protein is the key for gain weight. The protein rich foods are milk, dried fruit, broccoli (and other green veg), sweet potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, nuts, egg.

Sir, I want to gain weight but without any medicine. So which type of food I had to consume.

M.sc - Nutrition Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
If you are trying to gain weight, make sure that you are doing it in a healthy way. To gain weight you must consume simple foods for weight gain, which has enormous amount of calories & protein. Consuming lot of calories doesn’t mean that you have to over eat or over stuff yourself. You must always choose healthy sources of calorie dense foods. You must eat natural and simple foods for weight gain. Eat foods with high amount of calories than your required metabolism. Never skip your meals and make sure you are including all varieties of foods like fruits, vegetables, cereals and foods with high protein in your diet. Dairy products like milk, yoghurt and cheese are rich in protein and calcium. If you are vegetarian then include Egg & meat Egg is a protein rich food with high amount of calories. Nuts are the most nutritious and protein rich food. Fruits are the best sources of carbohydrates, healthy sugars, vitamins and minerals. Try to these tips

Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal

Hello lybrate-user, most diet fails because they are low calorie and low fat. Calorie counting does not work. Instead of correcting metabolism, this kind of diet make you feel low energy or makes you feel excessively hungry. If you are doing regular exercise, it will increase your fitness but it may not reduce weight much. I am sure you did not gain this much weight suddenly but over a period of time. To achieve weightloss - think long term. Weight loss achieved over short term, always comes back. Try this general approach (see below) for 4 weeks. If this works then continue. If you have tried this in past or if it does not work, then approach us for weightloss package of 6 months by lifestyle modification - combination of nutritional plan, stress management, exercise prescription for your current fitness level and sleep improvement, (if required). 1. Do not eat anything sugary or sweet. Zero sweetness in diet. 2. Eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner along with other foods. 3. Do not drink any liquid calorie like cola or fruit juices. 4. Brisk walks or jogging for 45 - 60 minutes every day. My best wishes.

Hello lybrate user. Try to relax yourself thats the most important thing right. Our brain also get exhausted wheb there is too much of information. Go for morning walk, walk on the grass barefoot and feel the tenderness of grass. You can also do deep breathing exercises. If your brain and body is relaxed then you wil be better able to concentrate. Also divide your learning task in such a way that you do not feel heavy. Make use of flow charts, tables for organiaing your learning materials. I hope this will help.

Dear patient, calorie dense food should be incorporated in your diet like dried fruits, potato, sweets, nuts, jam jelly, banana or mango shake, porridge, badam kheer etc. leafy vegetables should be restricted in your diet as they reduce appetite. you should take 3 major meals a day and snacks in between. butter, margarine should be taken. By exercising you may increase your muscles, not fat. It depends upon your digestion. If you want to gain weight by natural way, you have to increase your appetite. Regular oil massage on body will also help. Take 2 spoon of warm cow ghee with milk in the morning daily.

Dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. I am sending the diet chart. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day.

It has been very difficult for me to gain weight. I'm 21 years but 50 kgs only. Some say I have high metabolism. Please suggest some ways which will help me gain some weight. Thank you.

Yes your high metabolism may be one of the reasons. But you need to balance this with high biological value protein rich foods, to increase your muscle mass and thereby your body's endurance and strength. For all those who want to put on weight are suggested to keep distance from junk foods which are not healthy for the body, since they are surely going add weight to the body but at the same time they also are said to add bad fat to the body. Go only with the foods which are said to increase nutrient intake for the body and provide with sufficient energy, some of these foods have been listed below for simplicity: Salmon Tuna Paneer Soya beans Soya paneer-tofu Eggs Shrimps Granola bars Cheese Paneer Yoghurt Walnuts Dates Apricots Anjeer Raisins Nuts and oil seeds Peanut butter Chicken breast Gaining weight is not an excuse to get fat and schedule daily visits to all-you-can buffets. I suggest you begin implementing one principle each week and watch your body stack on more muscle to your frame each week.

My age is 20. My weight is 50. My height is 175 cm Is it correct values for my body? What kind of food I take for the remedy?

Your desired weight should be 70kg to 75kg. Keep checking your weight daily. Multiply your body weight into 20 and that is the amount of calorie that you must eat on a daily basis. So if you weigh 120 pounds and multiply it by 20, you’ll have to eat 2, 400 calories everyday to gain weight fast. The intake of calorie is not necessarily be exactly 20 times of your body weight but for optimum results it would be the best measurement to start with. If you can add additional calories if you aren’t finding any gain in your weight. Next, pay attention to the type of food that you eat. You will end up just putting on weight instead of healthy muscles if you keep eating junk foods. In order to get muscle weight, eat healthy food, such as meat, carbohydrate rich food and healthy fat. Have an approximate calculation of this combination in your daily diet – carbohydrate 40%, protein 30%, and fat 30% this would be an ideal combination of healthy diet. If your body needs to receive regular stream of nutrients, you need to change to frequent or smaller number of regular meals (for example 4 to 6 smaller meals) daily instead of big 3 meals as usual. This way it will be easier to build muscles weight.
