I am diabetic since 3 years and my age is 29 yrs. When I got diabetes I lost my weight up to 10 kgs (73 kgs to 64 kgs), after using medications and taking 1 time brown rice and chapathi brought my sugar levels to normal i.e 6.3 HB1AC Post lunch 145, fasting 109. But I am unable to gain weight causing me to look like sick person. So please suggest me any protien powder which can make me to improve my muscles and weight. And also please suggest me can I eat watermelon, pears and kiwi fruits daily. Please reply me.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Once diabetes is well controlled, then taking proper balanced diet, exercising and if needed taking extra proteins should help in building lean body mass (muscle mass) and increase the weight. Only additional protein is not going to help. It has to be supplemented with adequate amount of strength building exercise as well as aerobics. 2 to 3 eggs a day can be a good option. There are many protein powders sold on Amazon which you might try. Thanks.

I have joined gym from a month but I not got reduce the weight when I goto gym I reduce daily 1 kg next day that again increase 1 kg I am doing daily 2 hour workout but same weight yet What should I do now Can any one answer me thanks.

Hi lybrate-user. When you start your workout, mostly the weight loss you see after the workout is water loss. The best way to see if you are loosing weight is via calculating inch loss. Measure your waist size and check the inch loss again after 15 days. It will show you the right results.

Take high fiber low fat diet. Drink lot of water everyday. Take small and frequent meals at regular intervals of 2-3 hrs. Avoid outside food completely. Ask me privately for customized diet plan for you.

Dear Lybrateuser, -To reduce weight you have to follow some dietary precautions & do regular exercise - have more of fibre containing foods like vegetables & fruits, whole grains, legumes including beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, nuts - have low fat milk & milk products, lean meats (if you have) - have 4-5 small meals including snacks rather than three large meals, chew your food well, do not skip meals - avoid fried, processed & junk food, include a protein & a healthy fat food item in your meal - have a glass of water half an hour before meals, also have it along with other fluids so that you eat less -do regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming for 30-40 min, mild weight lifting to boost your metabolism - sleep well for 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed - keep portion control, have a protein snack if you feel hungry - keep a food diary, record weight once a week, half to one kg loss a week is ok - consult a dietician for your calorie requirement & menu for weight loss - reduce stress by reading, listening to music, playing a game or follow a hobby.

Mr. you have perhaps infection or indigestion then weight issues can easily resolved. You can start adding mint, basil and probiotic to get rid of current issues. Consult the person on whose guidance you are taking medicine.

We know that garlic consumption has many medical benefits. But can we consume garlic in summers (of north India) too? If yes, then how much and in what form? Thanks in advance.

Dear Thanks for contacting with your health concern 1. Although garlic is best known as good anti hyperlipdemic herb but consumption of same in summer can lead to aggravation of "PITTA' dosha which can imbalance the blood and metabolism [agni] resulting in outbreak of ulcers, acidity [amlapitta],gastritis, low digestion 2. As the hot potency of garlic is responsible for bad odour so avoid consuming it in peak summer time to prevent bad breath as well as bad odour. 3. If you wish to consume the same, I usually advice my patient (s) as follow: i. To prevent bad breath consume 1 clove of garlic during bed time ii. One can opt for lashunadi vati [baidyanath] or garlic pearls [himalaya] iii. If taken in morning: one may rinse mouth with a good mouth wash or drink mint juice [but remember breath comes from blood and not from mouth, so is a temporary measure]

I daily go for walking for 30 t o 40 minutes since 20 years. But off late my tummy is increasing and my effort to reduce by different type of exercise along with brisk walking. Kindly suggest.

Hi. Thanks for the query. After 40-45 years of age, your metabolism slacks, your muscle mass reduces and your fat distribution may change. It's also possible that you have not made any changes in your eating habits which is the same as years ago. With each decade your diet has to change as well. There is no specific exercise to only reduce belly fat but you can add some stretches and strength training to your present workout. Also the more visceral fat is there the more it can affect your health. You need to modify your nutrition definitely to remove unwanted belly fat.

Hello sir, Mere papa ko diabetes hai and neend na aane ki problem hai. Wo sleeping pill lekr sote hain (ETIZMA 0.5)Tablet lete h wo daily. Please koi natural method btayiye jisse unhe bina tablet k hi neend aa jae. And koi side effect na ho. Wo bohat stress lete h. Islie wo drink b krte h. Please koi solution btayiye.

Stress sabse bada karan hai neend na aane ka, Stress manage karna sikhao, alcohol avoid karen aur yadi lena hi hai to small quantity le sakte hain, din main na soye, regual rexercise .walk yoga karen. Avoid sleeping pills ye habit forming hotin hain.

Hello sir, Mere papa ki age 54 hai. Unhe diabetes hai. Unhe FROZEN SHOULDER ki problem h. Unhone doctor ko dikhaya tha nd doctors ne unhe excercise krne ko kaha tha but wo excersise nhi kr pate kyunki jb b wo exercise krte h unhe pain hoti hai. Islie woh daily pain killer lete hai. Please suggest something jisse unki ye problem theek ho jae. Or ab unki neck me b stiffness feel ho rhi hai. Please help sir. Kya yeh sb diabetes ki wajah se ho raha hai?

Yes it all is due to Diabetes. Control Blood sugar HBA1C. Exercise only is treatment. Take Pain killer Tab. Ultracet which is fully safe and do exercise. It may take 3-6 month in recovery.
