Hello- hypogonadism is a condition that occurs when the body's sex glands, the testes for males and ovaries for females, produce little or no hormones. For males with hypogonadism, low testosterone can affect the development and maintenance of male reproductive organs, including the testes, penis and prostate. In fact, low testosterone levels can lead to issues like reduced muscle strength, hair loss and impotence. In ayurveda, hypogonadism usually presents as shandhatva or napunsakta. It means inability to sire a progeny by either. In case your tests shows abnormal hormone levels and you experience the signs and symptoms for the same, don't worry. Ayurvedic vajikaran therapy (which includes, aphrodisiac herbs), and some simple lifestyle and dietary changes can help you recover naturally.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With TSH 8.5 mU/L, what are symptoms noticed? Usually up 9.9 mU/L, it is considered as subclinical and no treatment is given. However you have the earlier history of having hypothyroidism. Hence it is better to start thyroxine again in a lower dose of 25 to 50 mcg. Then check TSH again after 6 to 7 weeks. It is essential to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L. Thanks.
