I'm 29. I've a sedentary lifestyle, I'm over weight 97 kg for 167 cm, I'd sudden sharp Pain in my left chest occur often (not very often), I just had the pain it lasts only 2 seconds I feel like its traveling from under the rib cage to left upper chest. I couldn't bear the pain but it only lasts less than or exactly 2 seconds. Is that symptom of heart attack? Do I need to visit a doctor? Or like some people say it's gas please guide me and tell me what to do.(note: I also think this sudden sharp Pain occurs due to physical exercise yesterday I did punching bag workout for 10 minutes and exercise cycle for 5 minutes, I'd a sudden sharp Pain inside my ear after I finished my workout. Both problems connected to one factor or both different)

Your problem is not related to the heart. You might have sprained your muscles. People who have never exercised during childhood or who have had a long gap in exercise should start exercises slowly. Stiffness is common when someone starts unaccustomed exercises. If you have started your exercises by punching bags, then this is likely to happen.

Chest pain or heaviness which is related to certain body posture is usually a muscle sprain.Cardiac origin of chest pain has no relation to change in postures. So most likely its either related to muscles or bones. Three main differentials for patients presenting with postural variation of pain is- -Costochondritis. In this condition, the cartilage of your rib cage, particularly the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone, becomes inflamed and painful. -Sore muscles.Muscle sprain or Chronic pain syndromes, such as fibromyalgia, can produce persistent muscle-related chest pain. -Injured ribs. A bruised or broken rib can cause chest pain.

Dear lybrate-user It is good you are taking up exercises. But the choice of workout does not suite you. Walk for 45 mins on a gentle slope. Sharp pain in chest can be gas no doubt. Pain in ear is also related to gas sometimes but not always. It is more a pressure pain from sudden exertion. Regards.
