Hi from last 5 months for every 40 days I am getting moderate stomach pain at some point of time it get worse and getting little bit decreased with the help of my doctor I take pan D and ketrol pain killer and my pain was gone immediately and again after 40 days its starts coming I go for an ultrasound but reports are normal and I said the problem to my doctor he is telling that you had appendicitis is enlarged or swollen and prescribed Mr. antibiotic for seven days. My question was as per my knowledge if I get appetite I have to go for an medical emergency and immediate surgery is required but my doctor prescribed me medicines can you please answer my question if it is appendicitis or not. If it is appendicitis the pain will decreased with single ketrol painkiller can you please help and explain me in a very detailed manner about my problem can you please help me. Thanks.

Dear, on and off pain in abdomen can occur due to many cause like stomach infection, intestine problem, kidney stones etc. To know the cause, site of pain in abdomen is important. However if appendicitis is suspected by a doctor clinically or radiologically (USG and preferably by CECT abdomen) then it is decision of surgeon to decide weather to do emergency surgery or elective surgery (treat with antibiotics first and then later surgery). Elective surgery is generally preferred when already there is delay and associated swelling is there. In such case antibiotics helps to control infection and surrounding swelling to avoid complications during surgery later. I would conclude with the suggestion that if pain is decreasing then it is ok but if things are not improving consult Gastroentrologist immediately.
