Hi my baby is 5 month old. He is suffering from chest congestion from last 10 days. There is no severe cough but phlegm is there all the time. Doc gave ventorlin syrup mucolite drops and nebulizer levolin 0.3 mg. But its been 10 days now im worried. He is very active otherwise and taking breastfeed properly. Is there any harm of phlegm on his body.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, If chest congestion persist then it may cause some complication like secondary infection, nebulizer we can not recommend for prolong time as medicine can also create some side effects too, I'll suggest you to start homoeopathic treatment for your baby, as it is safe for babies, and restore their immunity. So that in future they will not develop any kind of chronic issue, and will increase the immunity against the acute illnesses. Thank you.

That you r considering phlegm may not be phlegm. It may be collection of saliva in throat which vibrates and sounds due to breathing which is normal at this age. In diseased chest congestion, baby can not be active n feed properly. Coughing may be due to irritation of throat by so called phlegm. Baby swallow it now n then.
