Usually it happens due to corneal edema which is a result of high eye pressure. Consult a specialist and he will do a glaucoma work up and rule out any complication.

Color rainbow haloes is a classical symptom of glaucoma. The raised eye pressure causes some water droplets to accumulate in the cornea- the clear lens that is commonly referred to as black portion of eye. when light enters the eye thru cornea.. diffraction happens and u see white light break into constituent rainbow colors. The disease process can be slowed down but not reversed...occasionally if medical treatment doesn't lower pressure adequately. A anti-glaucoma surgery helps. But it's a an informed discussion u have with ur treating doctor after detailed serial examination in person. All the best. U r experiencing this in spite of medical treatment may mean the eye pressure is not adequately controlled or ur cornea may not be healthy. Please go back to ur treating doctor and if possible also record the eye pressure around 6-7 pm.
