I have gerd with barrettes oesophagus. For the last one month I am having a burning sensation in my stomach always. It stays in the stomach. It does not come up to chest. Is it due to gerd? It's not intense. But a feeling. It stays for few seconds then goes. Again it comes. It continues like this. I take neksium 40 once daily.

Thank you for the query. GERD as you may be knowing causes symptoms like heartburn and acidic taste in the mouth. Since you already have Barrett's oesophagus (abnormal change in the cells of the lower portion of the esophagus), an Endoscopic surveillance at routine intervals is advisable. A burning sensation/discomfort localised in the abdomen, may be due to an associated gastritis/duodenitis. You continue with the es-omeprazole as prescribed. Avoid painkillers like Diclofenac and Ibuprofen as they can aggravate the symptoms. I would suggest you to visit your physician/gastroenterologist for a repeat endoscopy. Sucralfate suspension before meals my be helpful. Regards.
